Toyota GR 86 Special Edition: a more aggressive design for this limited edition of 860 units

The sporting division of the Japanese manufacturer has just unveiled this new special edition of its GR 86, featuring several special details for greater exclusivity

Toyota GR 86 Special Edition

With the recent arrival of its Toyota GR 86 just a few days ago, the Japanese brand and its Gazoo Racing division have officially announced the launch of the Toyota GR 86 Special Edition, a special version that, in addition to featuring several details that suit the Japanese sports car perfectly, will be limited to 860 units.

As is typical of a special edition, the sports car sports a design with distinctive details, starting with its bodywork painted in Solar Shift Orange, a colour created specifically for this occasion, its new GR forged 18-inch wheels painted entirely in black, or its various contrasting mouldings, also in black, such as its elegant spoiler, the strips on the C-pillar, its diffuser and its large front grille.

A detail that always pleases

Looking at it from the rear, we will notice a new exhaust system compared to the standard version, as the brand has created a new high-performance exhaust, a GR cat-back system with its black chrome outlets, which will be responsible for emitting the deep roar of its engine.

Once inside, we will not find major differences compared to the standard version, although Toyota has chosen to highlight its perforated and heated UltraSuede seats, along with its leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, aluminium pedals and the 8-inch infotainment system, thanks to being based on the Premium trim.

No changes

As far as the mechanical side is concerned, Toyota has not introduced any novelties, as under the bonnet sits the same 2.4-litre engine that produces 228 CV and 211 Nm of torque, paired with the 6-speed manual gearbox already familiar in our market, or a six-speed ECT-i automatic transmission with intelligent electronic control and a Torsen limited-slip rear differential to improve its behaviour in corners.
