Toyota unveils 15 electric prototypes at a large virtual event
The company has announced its upcoming electric models, which will gradually appear on the market under the Toyota and Lexus brands and which aim to occupy their own space.

The electric mobility movement continues to advance, and more and more vehicles are being prepared to be part of the future that is coming soon. Toyota has just presented 15 new electric prototypes, aimed at the nearer future and set to start appearing on the market within a few years. The models presented are under the banner of Toyota and Lexus, so the Japanese company offers us very interesting projects.
Among the electric vehicles we have seen at this presentation there are models for every taste. Saloons, SUVs, vans and sports cars feature in this catalogue of electric cars that have been shown to bring forward the electrified offering of both brands.

bZ family
The bZ (beyond Zero) family is one of the protagonists of Toyota’s move towards full electrification of the brand. The brand’s intention is to offer “mass-production models at reasonable prices“, and this is where the company’s efforts have been focused.
The star of the bZ family is the already well-known bZ4X, which was presented a few days ago. Alongside it, four other concepts have been seen. All of them are based on the e-TNGA platform. One of the proposals is a sporty compact crossover with coupé-style lines; a segment B SUV, aimed at Europe and Japan, which promises an energy consumption of 125 Wh/km; a mid-size saloon and a large three-row SUV designed for families.

Electric models from Lexus
The premium vehicle brand of Toyota will also offer a complete range of electrified vehicles. The first electric vehicle from Lexus is the RZ, which is the production version of the LF-Z Electrified prototype. Another of the models presented is an electric sports car that looks like the successor to the Lexus LF-A.
It is expected to have a range of 700 kilometres thanks to solid-state batteries. It has also been said that it could have an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds. Another of the novelties seen at the presentation is a large SUV and a sporty saloon. The latter has also been shown in a compact format and as a 2+2 convertible.

The other models
Besides these models, which are already more or less ready, other models from other segments were presented. A self-driving shuttle bus; a van designed for business and leisure and a versatile city car, all fully electric. The Compact Cruiser EV incorporates elements of the FJ Cruiser, so it could become a five-door off-roader with electric mobility technology.
A pick-up truck with double cab will also be available, with dimensions similar to the Hilux, but with an image closer to that of the Tundra.
There are more models that will be seen individually over the coming weeks, and we will be able to enjoy these vehicles in a short time. The intention of Toyota is to present 30 electric models before 2030, so we will keep watching all these models, how they evolve and how they reach the market in order to win a significant share of the electric market, which will soon be very competitive.
