Two electric cars that are a hit before they hit the market

The Honda e and the Volkswagen ID.3 have become two electric cars that are a hit before they even reach the market.

Many manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon of electric cars, but two models in particular are generating enthusiasm, and with many months still to go before their arrival on the market, the reservations keep growing.

The first of the two models with the most reservations is the Volkswagen ID.3, since Jurgen Stackmann, a member of the sales and marketing board, has confirmed that the German manufacturer has already surpassed 20,000 advance reservations.

The Volkswagen ID.3 unveiled the fully electric car under a thin camouflage veil. That was a month ago, and in just 24 hours more than 10,000 reservations were made. Stackmann posted on his Twitter that 20,000 advance reservations have already been made, but the German brand wants to reach 30,000 before the Frankfurt Motor Show, where the Volkswagen ID.3 will be officially presented.

It is important to highlight that the Volkswagen ID.3 will be sold in three different configurations: an entry-level version with a 45 kWh battery and a range of 330 km, a second level with a 58 kWh battery and a range of 420 km, and a top-of-the-range version with a 77 kWh battery and a range of 550 kilometres on a single charge. Production of the model will begin at the end of this year, and the first units will reach their owners in mid-2020.

25,000 reservations have already been officially registered for the most retro model of the Honda. It is called the Honda e and has become the first 100% electric car of the brand. Its goal is to glide through large cities so that its owners have no mobility or parking problems.

The Geneva Motor Show saw it for the first time, and since then more than 25,000 pre-reservations have been made. The electric city car from the Honda measures 3.9 metres in length and has seating for four passengers. It will have a range of 200 kilometres and offers the option of fast charging.

It is important to note that it is rear-wheel drive, with the aim of offering a more pleasant driving experience. In addition, it will be the second model on the market to feature a camera-based exterior mirror system; the first is the Audi e-tron.

The design is one of the factors that has made it so eye-catching, as it is inspired by the Honda Civic of the 1970s with a futuristic look. It is built on a platform specific to electric cars and will start arriving in homes during spring 2020.

As for the price, it should not be higher than 20,000 euros, but this has not been confirmed for the time being.
