Volkswagen Crossblue Coupe, the answer to the Evoque

At VW they are well aware of the tremendous success being enjoyed by the smallest of the Range Rover, and they do not want to miss the opportunity to grab a good slice of the pie. To do so, they are already preparing what will be its closest rival, the CrossBlue Coupe.
Early this year, at the Detroit show, VW showed us the new CrossBlue, a full-size crossover that would sit between the Tiguan and the Touareg, with a square and angular design and hybrid powertrain.
However, the German brand does not want to leave any loose ends, and taking advantage of the development work already done on the CrossBlue, it intends to create a competitor in the style of the Range Rover Evoque, which faces more and more rivals (see also the BMW X4 Concept). To do this, they have designed a crossover with a more dynamic design, with a strong drop-off at the rear of the roofline, and a sharper rear end. The front also changes, housing much smaller light units and a wider bumper. It is to be expected that practicality will worsen slightly in favour of design.

As for the interior, VW considers the CrossBlue’s to be more than sufficient, so we find a natural evolution of the Touareg’s design, with a large central screen between the air vents, and a very clean centre console with few controls. The photos show that the rear seats will be quite spacious, so up to 5 people will be able to travel inside comfortably.
And for travelling, you need a good engine, and the CrossBlue Coupe does not fall short. While the “original” CrossBlue had a plug-in hybrid powertrain made up of a 4-cylinder TDI engine and 2 electric motors, for this new version a more performance-oriented powertrain is speculated, with a V6 TDI plus two electric motors that would be enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 in approximately 6.5 seconds, with consumption around 3 l/100 km.
