A new Lamborghini Urus Performante could be on its way
The Lamborghini Urus could have a sibling with much more power and a far more aggressive look. Can you guess its possible name? Lamborghini Urus Performante.

Some rumours suggest that a new Lamborghini Urus Performante could be on its way, and it still seems a little strange to see the words ‘track-focused’ and ‘SUV’ sitting side by side. However, this is exactly what the bull brand from Sant’ Agata Bolognese appears to be working on: a far more extreme variant of the Urus.
Some reports claim that Maurizio Reggiani, the company’s chief technical director, has hinted that “I think we will see one”. This remark is the answer to the question about a possible Lamborghini Urus Performante.

“You know, at Lamborghini, many years ago, at the time of the Lamborghini Gallardo, we defined this strategy. The Lamborghini Gallardo was the first, and we continued with the Lamborghini Aventador and the Lamborghini Huracan”.
“So we have the strategy, and we will keep it, but sometimes it is clear that you need to invent or reinvent yourself in an order that cannot be predicted. This will be our goal for the Lamborghini Urus as well. It is difficult to talk about Lamborghini without mentioning the previous models.”

Lamborghini Urus Performante, a beast on its way?
The extreme version of the Italian super SUV is expected to get a revised chassis and recalibrated driving modes. In addition, the active aerodynamics of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante and the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ could also make it into the package, along with possible weight savings. In all likelihood, it will retain the current 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, though with more output, from the current 650 CV and 850 Nm of peak torque to around 700 CV.
At the same time, another version of the Lamborghini Urus is also on its way, although this one will be electrified. The plug-in hybrid model is believed to use the same powertrain as the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, with a rumoured output of 680 CV.

Maurizio Reggiani is a man who is committed to cars from start to finish. He studied engineering in Modena, Italy, before leading engine assembly at Maserati in the mid-1980s. From there, he spent several years at Bugatti, where he was responsible for the quad-turbo V-12 powertrain that found a home in the EB110 supercar. Reggiani joined Lamborghini in 1998 as head of R&D for propulsion and suspension systems; he became chief technical director in 2006. He also runs the motorsport division Lamborghini Squadra Corse and takes part in the Polo Storico, the company’s factory restoration programme.
On the Lamborghini Urus, he has said that “one of the most important tasks for the Urus was to ensure that it had the DNA of a Lamborghini, but at the same time be a usable car. Having a car that can get you from A to B, go shopping, carry a family. But when you enter the Sport and Corsa modes, it becomes a true Lamborghini. It becomes much stiffer, the suspension lowers, the engine responds in a different way, and this is the character of the Lamborghini. It is a success, and the waiting time for Urus is very long; we are producing 23, 24 units a day, which for us is really a doubling of Lamborghini’s volume.”
