Alpina is one of the best-known independent tuners of BMW. For decades they have launched highly interesting modifications across the entire range of the Bavarian manufacturer.

Now, with the launch of the MY2016 5 Series, Alpina is also updating its equivalent in the range, the B5.

Basically, the MY2016 B5 Bi-Turbo is an update of the current B5 Bi-Turbo, which has been on sale for a couple of years. The revisions are mostly cosmetic, although the engine’s power has also risen slightly. On the outside there are no noticeable changes; it still has a truly sporty look.

Specific bumpers with aerodynamic add-ons, quad exhaust outlets, multi-spoke alloy wheels, decorative vinyls and piano black trim enhance the look of these Alpinas, which, of course, are available as both a saloon and an estate.
The interior has no variations. Leather and premium materials remain the dominant feature.

Mechanically, the new B5 Bi-Turbo models use the 4.4 V8 engine from BMW. They now offer no less and no more than 600 CV and 800 NM. This update also improves performance: the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration now takes 4.2 seconds, while the top speed, which is not limited on these models, reaches an impressive 328 km/h.

Fuel consumption figures remain unchanged from the previous versions, with an average consumption of 9.5 litres per 100 km. Homologated CO2 emissions are 221 grams per km.
In addition to the power increase, the B5 Bi-Turbo can now feature a revised suspension that, for the first time, can be electronically controlled. The anti-roll bars can also be active, minimising body roll.

Prices for these Alpinas start at 108,600€ for the saloon version, rising slightly to 111,900€ for the estate body.
