Alpina XB7 2023: the 621 hp Bavarian behemoth with a very sporty design

The German tuner has just created its own sporty version of the X7, featuring a more aggressive design and an extra dose of power that raises it to 621 hp

Alpina XB7 2023

Following the arrival of the Alpina B4 Gran Coupé and the modified 3 Series versions by the tuner, Alpina has just unveiled its new XB7 2023, a sporty version of the largest SUV from the German firm, which becomes the last BMW M that was missing from the brand’s lineup, but in this case, signed directly by Alpina itself.

Unlike with the X3, X4, X5 or X6, BMW had not launched an M version of its colossal SUV nor had it announced anything about it, something Alpina, the tuner owned by BMW since last March, has sought to remedy, imprinting its DNA and character onto the large BMW X7.

An extra touch of spice

Starting with the design, the new XB7 2023 features a new bumper with larger, more pronounced air intakes and a more sporty splitter with the Alpina lettering in white, highlighting the aggressive look of its slim headlight units and its enormous gills.

From the side profile, the 23-inch multi-spoke wheels characteristic of Alpina are undoubtedly its main stars, giving this SUV the extra touch of spice that suits it so well.

At the rear, the large taillights joined by a chrome-colored trim, the sporty spoiler on the top of the tailgate and the four exhaust outlets responsible for emitting the roar of its twin-turbo V8 complete the sporty image of the X7.

Materials and luxury comfort

Inside, we find a cabin fully upholstered in brown, a multifunction steering wheel with the Alpina logo, and a digital instrument cluster of 12.3 inches alongside a 14.9-inch touchscreen for the BMW iDrive 8 infotainment system.

Under the hood is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, accompanied by a 48-volt MHEV mild-hybrid system, which enables it to develop no less than 621 hp and 800 Nm of peak torque, paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive. Its figures are a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h.

And its price?

As you can imagine, the starting price of this machine is not low, as it begins at 170,500 euros.
