Alpine will take the A110 to the track with a one-make championship in 2018
Alpine’s exit from the LMP2 category will mean that next year the new Alpine A110 will have its own one-make championship and its competition version

For three years, from 1985 to 1988, Alpine ran a one-make championship alongside Formula 1, that is, through races held before the corresponding Grand Prix. During those years, Alpine ran its own championship using the GTA V6 Turbo model, and since then it had not done anything similar. But this is over: next year a one-make Alpine championship will return.
For now, as you already know, Alpine competes in the LMP2 category of the World Endurance Championship, something that will end next year, when they will be required to leave the competition, since by starting to produce production cars again with the A110 they will stop being a privateer team, an essential requirement set by the FIA to take part in this category.
Luckily, Alpine’s departure from the World Endurance Championship will not be in vain, and the brand has already announced that next year the A110 Cup will be born, where we will be able to enjoy the most radical version of the new Alpine A110. For now, what is known for certain is that the company Signatech will be in charge of designing, building and selling the competition A110.

What is completely unknown are the final specifications of the Alpine A110 Cup, but since rumours keep emerging, there is talk of modifications that would bring an aerodynamic kit changing its look towards a more aggressive side; removal of all unnecessary interior elements, which would noticeably reduce its already reduced weight of 1,080 kilograms and would allow fitting an interior roll cage that complies with the regulations.
There is also talk of it not using the strictly standard engine, with changes such as the exhaust system or the turbo, among others, that would allow small power increases. Remember that the A110 comes standard with a 4-cylinder 1,800 cc turbo engine that delivers a power of 252 CV and a maximum torque of 320 Nm, allowing it to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
