BMW I4 M50: the first electric M is here, with no less than 544 hp
The new i4 gets the M variant. A 4-door, 100% electric sports car that has been tuned by BMW M GmbH to deliver unprecedented dynamics

A few months ago, BMW presented its first fully electric saloon. A car based on the conventional 5-door 4 Series, which is named BMW i4. To this model, which is hugely important for the brand’s history, the most spirited M-badged variant has now been added.
The BMW i4 M50, which is the name of today’s star, has been developed by BMW M GmbH and BMW Group, which, after intensive tests to fine-tune all the components in France and Sweden, have turned out this exciting machine. It promises handling thanks to its chassis and motor, ideal for enjoying driving without missing combustion engines so much.
Details that set it apart
This sporty electric saloon has been fitted with specific design elements that give it an eye-catching and very sporty look. At the front, we find a specific front apron, air intakes that cool the brakes, and specific mouldings finished in Cerium Grey.

Towards the rear, we also find the mirror housings, also in Cerium Grey, and the classic M badges we already know from the conventional model, which give it an aggressive and attractive look, as do the side skirts and the gloss-black gill inserts.
Finally, at the rear there is a handsome specific spoiler and a large diffuser, also in gloss black, which complete the attractive design of this exciting electric car. BMW M optionally offers an M carbon exterior package that includes the side cooling mouldings, the mirror housings, the aprons and, finally, the spoiler, finished in ultralight carbon fibre.

A specific setup
The great secret of the new i4 M50 is the tuning carried out to include this i4 as a true M Performance model in every sense. The springs and dampers have been individually configured, specifically designed anti-roll bars have been fitted for this variant, and M Sport brakes and light-alloy M wheels of up to 20 inches have also been mounted, which suit it really well.
The all-wheel electric drive system plays a key role in delivering the 795 Nm of torque that the electric motors are capable of producing with their 544 hp. This is possible thanks to one electric motor on the front axle and another on the rear, which coordinate with each other depending on road or weather conditions to offer maximum possible grip at all times.

Sport Boost, everything to the max
The 544 hp that this BMW i4 M50 produces in total come from an electric motor driving the rear wheels with 313 hp and another motor mounted on the front axle producing 258 hp. In addition to these two motors, it is equipped with the Sport Boost function, which raises the system’s combined output by 68 hp, resulting in the 544 hp already mentioned. With this incredible power, the i4 M50 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km/h.
To power these motors, this electric M has a high-voltage battery mounted in the underfloor of the car, which allows it to cover up to 510 kilometres of range according to the WLTP cycle, and to recover up to 140 kilometres in just 10 minutes thanks to the ability to charge its battery at up to 200 kW.
Until we have tested it, the new BMW i4 M50 looks very promising, and we are sure it will not disappoint anyone, as a good BMW M should.
