Czinger 21C: this is the production version of the supercar

The supercar that was unveiled in February 2020 has been improving its features throughout the year, and the production version has now been presented.

In February 2020 we saw the Czinger 21C for the first time, a supercar that was due to be officially unveiled at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, but after the event was cancelled, we saw little more. Now, the Californian company has presented what will be the production version of the model, with its final specifications and definitive information on what each of the 80 units of this model to be built will offer.

It will not be the last model proposed by the company, but it is the first to use artificial intelligence to design the parts that make up the vehicle. The system designed by Czinger has been responsible for designing and preparing each of the parts for production, seeking to optimise weight and aerodynamics so that the supercar has the performance expected of it.

Everything created in-house

Although there is a lot of technology on the market, it has been decided that all the technology has been created, designed and developed by the company itself. This ranges from the design of the car and the parts that make it up to the hybrid drive system. Everything is done using a program that seeks the best design to achieve the best behaviour from the car.

Several things have changed since the presentation, such as the width of the car. It now measures 2,050 mm. It weighs 1,240 kg and, considering that the maximum power output of the car is 1,250 CV, it has a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1 that is transmitted to all four wheels.

The 2.88-litre V8 engine acts as the main unit and is supported by two electric motors, one on each front wheel, which provide torque vectoring. Together, the three motors deliver those 1,250 CV of power. But if that seems modest, there is a version that adds 100 CV to the recipe so that everything sounds even better.

The engine is designed to run on different fuels, both traditional and alternative. It can therefore be fuelled with biofuels and can even run on the electric motors.

The 800-volt charging system allows energy to be recovered from regenerative braking and through the Motor Generator Unit (MGU), which is connected to the combustion engine via gears. It offers a top speed of 450 km/h and reaches 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds.

Buyers will be able to personalise the car, so each unit will be different from every other and it will be an almost unique car. And soon we will have it on the market for a fortunate few.
