When someone buys a supercar, they generally expect it to perform exceptionally on the track. But because of how it is configured to be used on conventional roads, its characteristics often cannot be pushed to the limit, which is why versions like the LamborghiniHuracán Performance or the Porsche911 GT3 RS, among many others, have appeared, and to which we must now add the FordGT Competition Series.

If the Ford GT is already a car that promises unique sensations wherever it is driven with its standard specifications, with this Competition Series version, from Ford they assure us that driving it will give us a experience as close as possible to the model that took part in, and won, the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year.

To achieve these unique sensations, the Ford GT has mainly undergone a weight-loss diet that has removed elements considered unnecessary on track. For example, the entire air conditioning system fitted as standard has been removed, as well as everything related to the sound system. In addition, the glass that allowed the engine to be seen has been replaced with Plexiglas, while the bonnet now opens using manual latches.

The cabin glass has also been replaced, but here, instead of using Plexiglas as is usually the case, the Ford GT Competition Series makes use of the latest mobile phone technology, fitting Gorilla Glass technology. Its wheels change from light aluminium alloy to carbon fibre, and even the nuts used to secure them are now made of titanium.

Inside, as it could not be otherwise, carbon fibre is also used, present in elements such as the dashboard and the doors. In contrast to all this carbon fibre display, the black Alcantara upholstery stands out, another sign that a taste for elegance is not at odds with racing. Finally, it should be said that the instrument panel is different from that of a standard Ford GT, although no specific data is provided on exactly how it differs.

As far as the mechanical section is concerned, no improvements are specified, so we assume that its 3.5-litre Ecoboost V6 engine continues to deliver the same 647 CV and 746 Nm of torque, although the response will be even more radical and direct due to the weight reduction.
