Koenigsegg sets a new record in the 0 to 300 with the Regera

Koenigsegg continues to fight to be the brand with the fastest production cars in the world, and the Regera, with a new record in the 0 to 100, is proof of that.

We know that the goals of Koenigsegg are very clear: to make its cars the fastest in the world. To achieve this, the Swedish brand has developed vehicles as incredible as the Koenigsegg Regera, a hypercar that dares to challenge models like the Bugatti Chiron. The Regera and the French car are constantly battling to determine which of the two is faster, but Koenigsegg has taken another step on its path toward the crown and toward becoming the company that has built the fastest car in the world.

We already know that Christian von Koenigsegg’s brand is very strict when it comes to subjecting its vehicles to safety tests, and the Regera was no exception. In addition to mercilessly battering the carbon fibre bodywork of the prototypes, Koenigsegg’s engineers also subject every production unit to speed tests to ensure they can reach -and exceed- 300 km/h without problems.

They carry out this task with every single vehicle belonging to their customers, thus making sure that they enjoy its performance. What Koenigsegg did not expect was that, during one of these tests, they would break a new record with the Regera. The Swedish hypercar has managed to set an impressive time doing the 0 to 300, a speed it reaches with great ease.

Koeningsegg Regera 2

Let us recall that the Koenigsegg Regera uses a 5.0-litre turbocharged V8 which, with the help of three electric motors, produces a total of 1,509 CV and 1,250 Nm of torque. With these figures -and a sophisticated aerodynamic design- the Regera delivers a 0 to 100 in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 410 km/h.

However, despite its outrageous performance, the people at Koenigsegg received a pleasant surprise. While carrying out the tests that they subject every car leaving their factory to -although on this occasion carried out with their own test unit- they managed to reach 300 km/h in 11.65 seconds, thus taking the crown from the Koenigsegg One:1, which had held the record until then.

This is how Koenigsegg lands a new -and hard- blow on the competition, which will not sit idly by. Bugatti and Pagani do not usually enjoy watching their rivals overtake them, so we will soon witness a response from both companies.
