Lamborghini Huracán STJ, extreme performance to celebrate the final swansong of its V10

With the Lamborghini Huracán STJ, the Italian brand pays its last tribute to its naturally aspirated V10 engine before the arrival of its successor later this year

The naturally aspirated V10 engine of Lamborghini has earned, on its own merits, iconic status for the engineering and for the brand itself from Sant’Agata Bolognese. Since its launch in 2003, when it first featured in the Gallardo, it has powered other models in the range such as the Huracán in its various versions. A V10 engine and a supercar that, unfortunately, must adapt to the times we live in, as late this year a new supercar with a hybrid powertrain will be unveiled.

But as we know after 10 years of Huracán history, which Lamborghini has managed to exploit with several versions, each more sought-after than the last, they will once again follow this formula to celebrate the final dance of this model with the naturally aspirated V10, and they will do so with the exclusive Huracán STJ, which will be built as a strictly limited edition of just 10 units for customers worldwide, which, as you can imagine, will be sold out even before they are built.

The Lamborghini Huracán STJ is directly based on the Huracán STO, a version presented about three years ago that encompassed everything the brand had learned in competition to transfer it into a fully homologated road model. The new Huracán STJ takes this STO performance to the peak, and a good indication of this is already reflected in its STJ designation, the acronym for the one-make championship Super Trofeo Jota created by Lamborghini in 2009, where “Jota” refers to Appendix J of the FIA Regulations that establish the specifications of racing cars.

In this way, a specific aerodynamic kit has been created for the Lamborghini Huracán STJ, developed directly by Lamborghini Squadra Corse based on the Huracán STO. As can be seen, it adds the iconic “cofango” – two new-design carbon-fibre aerodynamic appendages or flicks – while the enormous and eye-catching rear wing has had its angle increased by 3º to achieve 10% more downforce, ensuring even greater stability.

Mechanically, the Huracán STJ has had its active dampers removed and replaced with others fully adjustable in four directions to optimise rebound and compression at both high and low frequencies, so that it can be set up for any track where you want to get the most out of it. It also features Bridgestone Potenza Race tyres developed specifically for this model with a specific high-performance compound, mounted on 20-inch single-lock-nut wheels. It is worth noting that all these upgrades fitted to the Huracán STJ have allowed it to cut more than a second off its lap time at the Nardo circuit compared with the Huracán STO.

Under its bonnet, of course, sits the glorious naturally aspirated V10 engine which, just as in the Huracán STO, in the Huracán STJ also produces 640 CV at 8,000 rpm and 565 Nm of torque, sent exclusively to the rear axle through a seven-speed dual-clutch LDF (Lamborghini Doppia Frizione) gearbox.

Finally, Lamborghini Centro Stile has been responsible for the exterior styling of the Huracán STJ through two different options. The first combines Grigio Telesto paintwork with a Nero Noctis roof and accents in Rosso Mars and Bianco Isi, while the interior uses a Nero Cosmus Alcantara and leather configuration with contrasting Rosso Alala leather details and stitching. The second configuration uses Blu Eliadi paint with a Nero Noctis roof and accents again in Rosso Mars and Bianco Isi, keeping the interior in the same configuration as before. Everything is complemented by a carbon-fibre numbered plaque and, optionally, a personalised plaque can be added on the passenger side.
