Land Rover Discovery Sport 2019: more efficient and aerodynamic
The Land Rover Discovery Sport 2019 arrives with more efficient engines and a more aerodynamic front design.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is updated in its most compact version, the Sport variant. The redesigned British SUV introduces several aesthetic novelties and several changes to its engines that allow it to improve its emission levels.
Available with 5 or 7 seats
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is available with two body styles: five or seven seats. The second-row seats can be reclined, slid and adjusted in a 60:40 split. It has a length of 4,589 mm, 381 mm less than the 7-seat Discovery, which positions it as a direct rival to cars such as the Volkswagen Tiguan or the Audi Q5.

Slight design changes that improve its aerodynamics
The updated Land Rover Discovery Sport features a steeper C-pillar than its predecessor. This greater inclination gives it a more dynamic profile which in turn contributes to improved aerodynamic efficiency: the car now offers a drag coefficient of 0.37, which translates into better performance, greater fuel savings and less aerodynamic noise.

The compact SUV from Land Rover is offered in 12 colour combinations, among which the Fuji White and the Carpathian Grey metallic shade stand out.
Improved chassis: multi-link rear axle
The new Land Rover Discovery Sport features a multi-link rear axle that contributes to better dynamics, refinement and to increasing space in the rear seats. The car also features adaptive suspension (Adaptive Dynamics MagneRide) that allows the suspension setup to be configured according to our needs.
More efficient 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engines
The new Land Rover Discovery Sport incorporates the same two-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines as its predecessor, but with certain improvements that contribute to greater environmental efficiency. These are all the engines offered by the compact SUV:
| Engine | Power (CV) | Torque (Nm) | CO§h67Volkswagenh68§ (g/km)* |
| Ingenium Diesel: Td4 150 FWD Man | 150 | 380 | 149 |
| Ingenium Diesel: Td4 150 AWD Man | 150 | 380 | 171 / 174 |
| Ingenium Diesel: Td4 150 AWD Auto | 150 | 380 | 171 / 172 |
| Ingenium Diesel: Td4 180 AWD Man | 180 | 430 | 171 / 174 |
| Ingenium Diesel: Td4 180 AWD Auto | 180 | 430 | 171 / 172 |
| Ingenium Diesel: Sd4 240 AWD Auto | 240 | 500 | 182 / 183 |
The only novelty this 2019 Discovery Sport presents in terms of engines is the 2.0L 240 CV Ingenium unit, a powerplant that was introduced in 2017 in the Discovery range and which is now also available in the compact version of the SUV.

To comply with the strict EU6 emissions regulations, the engines of the new Discovery Sport incorporate a series of technologies that help reduce their emission levels. Among them we find an AdBlue aftertreatment system that reduces NOx emissions (one of the most harmful gases for human beings and which diesel engines produce in a greater proportion) and a selective catalytic reduction system.
Front-wheel drive and 4×4 versions
The Discovery Sport is available with front-wheel drive as standard, but you can also opt for the all-wheel-drive versions, among which we find two all-wheel-drive systems:
- Efficient Driveline: its centre differential continuously varies the torque split between the front and rear axles.
- Active DriveLine (standard on the 240 CV diesel Discovery Sport): its centre differential intelligently alternates traction between two and four wheels depending on conditions.
