Lexus LX 2022: The Japanese off-roader loaded with luxury is now a reality

After a brief teaser published a few days ago, the new Lexus LX has just made its world debut loaded with luxury, with a strong presence and, finally, with a V6

Lexus LX 2022

The new generation of the Lexus LX has just been presented, revealing its design, its engine and its technological new features. With an imposing style, the new Lexus 4×4 will be the only off-roader in the Toyota group representing this segment in the USA, since let us remember that its base sibling, the Toyota Land Cruiser, will not arrive in that country.

After more than 25 years of experience in the market, this large off-roader, with a wide luxury offering inside and out, has unveiled its third generation, which we are sure will not disappoint anyone, at least aesthetically.

Burly and with a strong presence

At the front, we find a gigantic grille as the star, with the same shape we have recently grown accustomed to seeing on other models of the brand, such as the NX or the ES. On either side of this grille are two sharply shaped lighting units with LED technology. Finally, the two large cooling intakes combined with the fog lights complete the image, full of presence and personality, of the new model.

From the side view, this is undoubtedly where we can most highlight the DNA of the Land Cruiser. Its pronounced, muscular wheel arches, its high bonnet and its C-pillar, very similar in form, help us to distinguish the resemblance of the new LX to its sibling from another brand.

The rear also looks wide and muscular thanks to its large tailgate, its fairly bulky bumper, although very well integrated, and its two LED rear lights, which we already saw in the teasers published a few days ago.

Another major new feature in the range of the new Lexus LX is the F Sport finish. It comes with attractive 22-inch alloy wheels, sportier styling and, as the icing on the cake, a limited-slip differential from the specialist Torsen.

Luxury and exclusivity in abundance

Inside, the new LX has two touchscreens as the main features of its cabin: one of 12.3 inches and one of 7 inches. The larger one houses the infotainment system, and the lower one is dedicated solely to selecting the driving mode through the Multi Terrain Select system and to the climate control. A rather clever arrangement that avoids taking your eyes off the road while wandering through menus just to switch on the air conditioning.

The new Lexus LX can seat anywhere from four people up to seven, depending on the seat configuration chosen. Furthermore, as we have already told you, being based on the Land Cruiser, the new platform has notably improved its weight and torsional rigidity, which has now been increased.

Welcome, V6

Under its bonnet, as some theories had already suggested, the V8 has been relegated in favour of a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 415 CV of power and 649 Nm of torque, paired with a ten-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system.

The expected arrival of this new generation at dealerships is around the first quarter of 2022. Until then, we will simply have to wait to learn important details such as its price and how its range will be structured.
