Lynk & Co 07, the first saloon from the Chinese brand is already a reality

Although it seems that SUVs are getting all the attention from manufacturers, saloons are still around, and this model from the Chinese brand is proof of that.

Worldwide, SUVs are at the top of users’ preferences. But saloons are the type of car with the longest history in the automotive world, so they refuse to disappear. And manufacturers such as Lynk & Co, a Chinese company that is making a significant mark in the local and even international market, have bet on this type of vehicle with its Lynk & Co 07 model.

Don’t think this is a car that will be limited to the local market; it will also arrive in Europe, although no date has been given for that to happen. For the time being, it has started to be present in the Chinese market, and those who opt for this model will find a saloon that measures 4.83 metres in length, has a width of 1.9 metres and a height of 1.48 metres. A saloon that sits in the D segment, where it will surely be positioned when it arrives in Europe.

This model breaks with the trend of the rest of the brand’s models and does not use the SEA platform of the Geely group. Instead, the CMA Evo platform has been used. As for its exterior design, it does repeat the brand’s design language, with particular attention to the front and rear headlights.

Inside, a minimalist design has been chosen, dominated by two screens. The one that houses the digital instrument cluster measures 12.3 inches, while the central screen offers a size of 15.4 inches. The operating system that runs them is the one designed by the company itself, called HMI Lynk Flyme Auto Meizu.

The model carries the designation EM-P, meaning it is a plug-in hybrid. The combustion engine runs on petrol and is available in three power outputs: 214 CV, 375 CV and 585 CV. As for electric capacity, buyers will be able to enjoy an LFP battery with a capacity of 18.99 kWh, which will allow it to travel in electric mode up to 102 kilometres, according to the Chinese CLTC homologation cycle, which is less demanding than the European one.

A more capable battery is expected, but for the time being, they will have to settle for this one. Will this battery be available when the Lynk & Co arrives on the European market? For now, this is the configuration of the model for China, and no changes are expected for the time being.
