Mansory Gronos, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 taken to the highest level

The 2021 Gronos is Mansory’s wildest tuning of the AMG G 63. It comes with enormous power from its V8 engine, and only 10 units will be built

Of all the modifications carried out by Mansory, the most frequently revisited model is arguably the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Indeed, thanks to the many conversions performed, it has become a success within the German tuner’s catalogue. Mansory once again takes on the G-Class, specifically using the Mercedes-AMG G 63 as its base, and the result has been named Mansory Gronos.

This is not the first time Mansory has used the Gronos name for one of its G-Class builds. It did so back in 2013 and made it a success, so perhaps as a sign of good luck Mansory brings back the Gronos for 2021. Like the original, the new Mansory Gronos aims to combine tuning with luxury taken to the highest level, as well as mechanical upgrades. However, if you can really afford it, you’ll need to be quick, as Mansory will build only 10 units for the whole world.

The bodywork of the new Mansory Gronos has been painted in British Racing Green, which combines perfectly with the aerodynamic kit replacing the standard one, where carbon fibre is the main material. From the front, the redesigned bumper with larger side air intakes, split by two strips of LED daytime running lights, together with the fins and a dark grey front spoiler, will immediately catch your eye. Higher up, you certainly won’t be able to take your eyes off the elaborate exposed carbon-fibre bonnet, which is lighter than the original and features additional air outlets.

On the upper part of the Mansory Gronos, above the windscreen, there is a carbon-fibre piece integrating powerful LED lights that improve night vision. From the sides, carbon fibre also appears on the rear wheel-arch fins, the mirror housings and the last quarter window. At the rear, a carbon-fibre rear spoiler projects from the upper section, along with the spare-wheel cover, also in carbon fibre, and the bumper inserts. Finally, the Gronos rides on huge 24-inch forged wheels with high-performance tyres.

The luxurious interior of the G-Class has been modified for this build, using brown leather upholstery, the same colour also applied to the boot floor, although the mats are black. This black colour also appears on the dashboard trim, which is combined with carbon-fibre inserts such as those on the steering wheel, centre console and door panels, to which sport aluminium pedals are added.

The Mansory Gronos is powered by the same petrol 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that delivers 585 CV as standard. As expected, however, it has been revised with a new turbo and a complete exhaust line, increasing its output to an impressive 850 CV along with 1,000 Nm of torque. As a result, its acceleration will leave you pinned to your seat, reaching 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds on the way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
