The test of the Pininfarina Battista at Nardò shows us what it is capable of

In the video released by Pininfarina we can see the Battista, the 1,900 CV electric hypercar, moving around the Italian Nardò track,

Pinifarina Battista Prueba 02

Pininfarina is one of the most respected names in the automotive industry. It is one of the most prestigious designers and for several years it has also been one of the world’s most renowned makers of exclusive and very special cars. Its latest project is the Pininfarina Battista, an electric supercar that is in the final stages of development and that we have seen in one of the tests to fine-tune the prototype.

Not only have we been able to enjoy its striking look, but we have also seen how its four electric motors react when Nick Heidfeld, a driver who has been part of the Battista development team since 2019, takes the wheel, a true legend of four-wheel racing. He has worked alongside the brand’s engineers and designers to shape this model and now also takes part in these final tests.

The latest tests of the prototype

This is not Heidfeld’s first time behind the wheel of the car, both physically in the early stages of development and virtually in a sophisticated simulator that recreates the model’s conditions. His knowledge of mechanics and the industry and his 25 years of experience in it have allowed him to make the modifications and adjustments needed to strengthen the model’s chassis.

The Nardò circuit has been the stage where the driver took the wheel of the hypercar, and this led Heidfeld to study the layout in depth, since he had never run any test there before. As he commented after driving at Nardò, “the acceleration of the Battista is on another level, even compared with the fastest road cars in the world“.

For these tests they used two tyre configurations, although the driver considers the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R to be the performance tyre that best matches everything the car can deliver, together with the Impulso wheels, which are light and offer a combination that improves grip and a more suitable feel.

The driver’s impressions match a car that reaches 100 kilometres in under 2 seconds and that together with its 1,900 CV delivers a peak torque of 2,300 Nm. The motors are powered by the energy stored in the 120 kWh battery, which will provide a range of 500 kilometres on the WLTP cycle on a single charge.

Pininfarina’s workshops in Turin will host the assembly of 150 units of this hypercar, and assembly work is expected to begin in the summer of this year, with the first deliveries planned for late 2021.
