More power and efficiency in the DS7 Crossback with the new 225 PureTech automatic version
Three months after the model’s launch, DS expands the range of its large crossover with the launch of the new petrol version with a 225 CV engine

DS launches the new 225 CV petrol variant with 300 Nm of torque at the top of its range, the DS7 Crossback, a vehicle that arrives on the market ready to challenge its rivals in the SUV segment, where it is positioned at the upper end, and where it will have to face the growing number of premium models arriving in the segment these months.
The DS7 Crossback PureTech 225 Automatic adds to the model’s already known offer in the segment something that was somewhat lacking: power, performance and… consumption. The key to the model, besides its style, technology and design, is undoubtedly placed in this version, and despite the increase in power it delivers, in the efficiency of this mechanical combination now on offer. With just 5.9 litres of homologated average consumption, this powerful version of the DS7 Crossback is among the best in its segment in this respect.

The four-cylinder engine of the PureTech 225 CV offers a 6 percent reduction in consumption compared with the previous 210 CV THP engine. To achieve this, this four-cylinder has been given improvements in its combustion cycles (variable valve lift control system, Valvetronic multiple injection control,…), reducing friction between its moving parts through a new treatment of the cylinder walls and higher-quality oils, and the redesign of the turbocharger, to which a new electric wastegate valve has been added to optimise its performance.
The DS7 Crossback PureTech 225 comes as standard coupled to PSA’s new EAT8 automatic gearbox, thanks to which better engine performance and the significant reduction in consumption mentioned above have been achieved, thanks above all to the adoption of a new ECO mode, now operating with the “free wheeling” sailing function, which allows the gearbox to disengage each time the driver lifts off the accelerator while driving at speeds between 20 and 130 km/h.
The DS7 Crossback PureTech 225 automatic is already available at the brand’s dealerships, where it sells from 52,750 euros, a price that places it in the DS range midway between the already known variants (both diesel, of 130 and 180 CV respectively) and the future plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version arriving at the start of 2019 under the name e-Tense 4×4, in which DS will offer a combination that unites the performance of a 200 CV petrol engine with that of a 100 CV electric motor. The DS7 Crossback e-Tense 4×4 will also have a range of 50 kilometres in fully electric mode.
