New diesel engine for the 2019 Nissan Qashqai: the SUV gets the 150 CV 1.7 dCi
Far from abandoning diesel, the Nissan Qashqai has a new diesel engine. A 1.7 dCi unit that is more powerful than the 1.5 dCi that launched sales in 2018

Europe’s best-selling crossover gets a new diesel unit. In 2018, the Nissan Qashqai achieved its best sales figure yet, with a total of 31,200 units registered in our country. And to keep these good numbers going through 2019, Nissan is expanding its engine line-up with the arrival of a new diesel engine in the Nissan Qashqai.
This means that it is now available in four different versions of the Nissan Qashqai diesel. Four variants sharing the common feature of running on diesel to power the mechanicals of the SUV par excellence from Nissan.
The new 1.7 dCi engine of the Nissan Qashqai

The main novelty among the four diesel versions of the Nissan Qashqai is the 150 CV 1.7 dCi engine. This unit delivers a highly notable output of 150 CV at 3,500 rpm and a strong torque of 340 Nm from as low as 1,750 rpm.
The new 1.7 dCi engine of the Nissan Qashqai also features a variable-geometry turbo that works efficiently, and a water-cooled intercooler integrated into the intake manifold to reduce air temperature and cylinder pressure, which translates into more efficient combustion. In terms of consumption, the 1.7 dCi unit is paired with a variable-displacement oil pump to improve fuel efficiency.
Reducing the environmental impact of this engine has also been a key focus, so it includes more effective exhaust gas recirculation that reduces nitrogen oxide emissions. Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology with AdBlue is also incorporated to tackle the emissions of the aforementioned NOx.

As for the gearbox, the 1.7 dCi engine is available in three configurations: a six-speed manual transmission, in 2WD two-wheel drive or 4WD all-wheel drive configuration, or an X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission, always with all-wheel drive.
With this, under any combination, a smooth, quick and progressive acceleration drive is ensured.
The fuel consumption of the Nissan Qashqai 1.7 dCi is homologated on the NEDC cycle at 4.7-4.8 for the six-speed manual gearbox 2WD version; 5.1-5.2 for the same gearbox in the 4WD version, and 5.5-5.8 for the Xtronic gearbox 4WD version.
The diesel range of the Nissan Qashqai

Furthermore, completing the diesel offer of the Nissan Qashqai, the well-known 1.5 dCi engine comes in a more modest version. It produces 115 CV of power at 3,500 rpm and 285 Nm at 2,000 rpm, and is paired with the six-speed manual gearbox.
This configuration is the one we got to know at the end of last year. A 1.5 dCi engine was presented at the end of 2018, and its consumption has been established, also on the NEDC cycle, at 4.0-4.2 litres of diesel per 100 km.
