Nico Rosberg and the Porsche 918 Spyder have a blast at the Silverstone circuit

Nico Rosberg has gone to the Silverstone circuit to get behind the wheel of one of the most efficient hypercars of all time, the Porsche 918.

The world of motorsport has produced numerous legends, who have made their mark with historic achievements. In this context we find former Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg, who showed his skill behind the wheel on many occasions. His retirement was news that saddened many of the German’s fans, but after ten years at the wheel of a Formula 1 car and numerous titles to his name, Rosberg has decided to return to doing what he does best: driving. This time, however, the machine he has chosen is not a racing car, but the all-powerful Porsche 918 Spyder.

After Nico Rosberg decided to retire, he launched a YouTube channel, where his followers can not only enjoy various vlogs, but also learn why he is one of the best Formula 1 drivers. Thanks to the collaboration between Porsche and the Finnish-German former driver, he has been able to get behind the wheel of the 918 and squeeze out every last ounce of the sportiness that the most powerful production model the brand has ever built is capable of delivering.

The track chosen to unleash the potential of the Porsche 918 Spyder was Silverstone, a circuit made up of winding bends that will force its driver to give everything to tackle them successfully. As expected, Rosberg not only completed the English circuit without setbacks, but also managed to showcase the capabilities of the German hypercar.

Although Nico is used to the power and sensations of Formula 1 cars, he could not hide his surprise at feeling the force of the 918, a vehicle with an efficiency and precision worthy of a racing car. Both in the corners and on the straights, the Porsche hypercar shows constant grip, with Rosberg’s corrections made to properly control the brutal delivery of power from the 918.

This is no surprise, since the Porsche 918 has an overwhelming powertrain, capable of delivering a total of 887 CV. This figure is produced by combining a 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 capable of generating 606 CV, a output supported by an electric motor that delivers 281 CV. At the same time, the union of both powerplants also gives the 918 1,275 Nm of torque.

When the efficient combination offered by the Porsche 918 falls into the hands of a driver like Nico Rosberg, we can witness scenes as striking as those shown in this video. Everything suggests that Rosberg has no intention whatsoever of returning to the world of racing but, without a doubt, this has not diminished his talent or his passion for driving.
