Peugeot E-208 GTi: the most aggressive electric model from the lion brand

With the E-208 GTi, Peugeot not only revives a legendary badge, but redefines the concept of driving enjoyment in the electric era.

Peugeot has decided to revive its legendary GTi badge with the new E-208 GTi, an electric compact that promises to revolutionise sporty mobility. This model not only pays tribute to the glorious history of the brand, starting with the iconic 205 GTi from 1984, but also marks the beginning of a new era for high-performance electric models from the French manufacturer.

With bold design, advanced technology and a focus on driving pleasure, the E-208 GTi aims to set a new standard in its segment.

The E-208 GTi replaces the 115 kW electric motor of the standard model with an M4+ unit delivering 206 kW and 345 Nm of torque. This substantial increase in power allows it to reach 100 km/h from standstill in just 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h.

Peugeot has taken care of every last detail

To optimise grip, this model includes a limited-slip differential integrated into the single-speed transmission, ensuring agility and stability through corners. The suspension has been lowered by 30 mm and its track widened by 56 mm at the front axle and 27 mm at the rear, now using hydraulic dampers and a rear anti-roll bar. All with the aim of achieving the perfect balance between sportiness and comfort. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres reinforce this dynamic behaviour, while the sport driving mode adjusts the ESP for more intense driving.

On the other hand, the 54 kWh battery pack, supplied by CATL, is the same as that fitted to the standard E-208, but its management software and cooling system have been optimised to withstand much more sporty use. Fast charging remains at the same 100 kW, making it possible to increase the state of charge from 20 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.

As for the brakes, the E-208 GTi features 355 mm front discs, while the rear ones are the same as those found on the base model. This is a decision that engineers at Peugeot have taken with the intention of prioritising efficiency without sacrificing safety.

The design of the E-208 GTi is a nod to the past and a statement of intent. Its exclusive red paint evokes the iconic 1984 205 GTi, complemented by spoilers, widened wheel arches and 18-inch black alloy wheels with details reminiscent of those from the 1980s. Inside, the red accents on the seats, seatbelts and floor mats also stand out, creating a competition-inspired atmosphere. A specific sport steering wheel and recalibrated steering promise a unique driving experience.

Regarding the vehicle’s equipment, this model includes as standard virtually all the options offered for the conventional E-208, among which the V2L bidirectional charging stands out, thanks to which it is possible to power external electronic devices.

For now, Peugeot has not revealed any information about its price, nor about when it will start taking orders for this new model.
