Polestar Engineered, the division that will be in charge of tuning the hybrids of Volvo
With Polestar independent, Volvo was left without the most refined and sporty versions of its models, a gap solved by creating Polestar Engineered

Until about a year ago, Polestar, part of Volvo, was dedicated to giving the highest-performance vehicles of the Swedish manufacturer its sporty signature, a resource that left Volvo without this capability when they decided to spin off Polestar. Since then, Volvo had been lacking in this area, and the solution has arrived a year later with the creation of Polestar Engineered.
As was the case before, Polestar Engineered will now be responsible for refining certain Volvo models, focusing at least for the time being on the series 60 plug-in hybrid versions with the T8 Twin Engine powertrain, comprising the S60, the XC60 and the V60. The areas where the touch of Polestar Engineered will be visible are the styling, the suspensions, the brakes and the engine, introducing a different electronics management.

As mentioned, Polestar Engineered will debut with the new Volvo S60 and its T8 Twin Engine powertrain, a model whose details we do not yet know, although its presentation is imminent before production begins at Volvo’s new plant in Charleston, South Carolina. Later, around next year, Polestar Engineered will also work on the V60 and the XC60 SUV. All of them will be available in limited quantities at Volvo dealerships, as well as through the subscription service offered as Care by Volvo.
We do not yet know the Polestar Engineered version of the Volvo S60 in full, but Volvo has made it clear that gold will be the signature of Polestar Engineered on its models. This color will be visible on the brake calipers through the newly designed wheels, and the brakes bear the signature of Brembo, featuring pads that better withstand heat and grooved brake discs that dissipate it more effectively.

The suspensions will also be another element presented in gold, signed for the occasion by Öhlins, a brand that precisely uses this color as its trademark. These suspensions will provide greater stiffness to the S60, but Volvo assures that comfort will not be lost in everyday driving, and they share some elements present in the Polestar 1, such as the anti-roll bar and the design of the damper itself.
Finally, the T8 Twin Engine has also been revised to increase its power and torque, raising output from the original 400 CV to 415 CV, while torque rises from 640 Nm to 670 Nm. It should be said that these electronic improvements will also help improve fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as optimize the automatic gearbox, and will also position it above the R-Design version.
As for its styling, we cannot yet tell you whether it will incorporate any kind of aerodynamic kit, at least for now, but there will be Polestar badges on the bodywork indicating which version you are looking at, as well as black exhaust tips and, inside, gold-colored seatbelts.
