Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport Package, the ultimate weapon for track day sessions

Inspired by the improvements Manthey-Racing made to the Porsche 911 GT2 RS to reign once again at the Nürburgring, the German brand launches the Clubsport package

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has taken the entire history of the 911 saga to its highest expression, living up to such a legendary name, and was the fastest 911 ever around the always demanding Nürburgring circuit. Unfortunately, another vehicle from the VAG Group, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, managed to snatch the record from the 911 GT2 RS. With its pride wounded, the Stuttgart house teamed up with Manthey-Racing to give its little beast some fine-tuning, thus regaining the crown at the Green Hell.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS revised by Manthey-Racing simply incorporated certain aerodynamic and chassis improvements, although if you know how to find the right setup in these two areas, substantial gains can be achieved. It was precisely these changes that inspired Porsche to launch the Clubsport Package for the 911 GT2 RS, at no additional cost to its owners, showing Porsche’s commitment to its customers in offering them the best car for their track day sessions.

This Clubsport package, which as I said can be optionally installed at no additional cost, begins with a steel roll cage bolted to the chassis of the 911 GT2 RS, and it is also homologated by the FIA. Moving to the interior, there are also red safety harnesses with six anchor points and, in terms of safety, it incorporates a fire extinguisher and an emergency switch that disconnects the battery in the event of an accident, also FIA-homologated.

Mechanically, there are also upgrades that will help us go even faster, such as the installation of a rear-steering axle, a new variable-lock differential, and an adjustable suspension that lets us adjust stiffness and ride height depending on the asphalt we are driving on. Aerodynamically, a series of parts have also been fitted to improve efficiency, with the enormous rear wing perhaps being the main protagonist.

These changes have been enough to turn the Porsche 911 GT2 RS into a true track beast, since no mechanical changes have been made. Thus, under its bonnet we still find the same six-cylinder boxer engine delivering 700 CV and a maximum torque of 750 Nm. Leaving aside any possible evolution of the Clubsport package in terms of figures, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS manages to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 340 km/h.

The only unknown that Porsche has not revealed regarding the Clubsport package is whether existing owners of a Porsche 911 GT2 RS will be able to take their car to their dealership to have this new package installed.
