Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo: much more than a Taycan with estate bodywork

The new Cross Turismo version of the Porsche Taycan not only has more boot space, but is also designed to tackle tracks and country roads.

Porsche continues to complete its range of Taycan. Now it is the new Taycan Cross Turismo that joins the offering of Porsche’s electric sports car, setting up a version that, at least in my view, is one of the most interesting alternatives to the saloon. We recently saw the Taycan Cross Turismo in its final tuning phase. Now you can even buy it.

I admit it, I have a weakness for estate bodies, particularly those that Porsche is launching. We already told you in our road test of the new Porsche Panamera range that the Sport Turismo is not only more practical than the saloon, but I find it even much more attractive. And with the Taycan Cross Turismo, Porsche has done it again.

A family Taycan with an adventurous spirit

Aesthetically, the Cross Turismo is very well resolved. This is no surprise, as it retains the features that Porsche presented on the Mission E Cross Turismo prototype in 2018. It is an estate body, but muscular and sporty. And the additional elements such as the wheel arches, the side skirts and the side steps give it an “off-road” look that suits it very well.

Being picky, the protective strips on the ends of the bumpers and at the rear of the side steps included in the “off-road design” package look a little like an “added on” feature. But they have an important protective function against possible stone impacts when driving on country roads.

Yes, you read that right. Remember that another of the virtues of the Taycan Cross Turismo is that it is designed to leave the asphalt, thanks to these protections, but also to the four-wheel drive, the sdaptive air suspension and the “Gravel” driving mode, standard on all versions. With the optional “off-road design” package the ground clearance increases by 30 mm.

In addition, Porsche has developed a special bicycle carrier for the Taycan Cross Turismo, which can carry up to 3 bicycles.

Performance Plus battery as standard

From the start of sales, Porsche offers four mechanical variants, in this case all of them with the Performance Plus battery as standard, with 92.4 kWh of capacity. These are the variants with their power and range:

-Taycan 4 Cross Turismo: 380 CV (476 CV in boost mode), up to 456 km of range
-Taycan 4S Cross Turismo: 490 CV (571 CV in boost mode), up to 452 km of range
-Taycan 4 Cross Turismo: 625 CV (680 CV in boost mode), up to 452 km of range
-Taycan 4 Cross Turismo: 625 CV (761 CV in boost mode), up to 419 km of range

Range and prices of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo

The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo can now be reserved, and the first deliveries are scheduled to start next June. The range is as follows:

  • Taycan 4 Cross Turismo: 95,995 euros
  • Taycan 4S Cross Turismo: 114,508 euros
  • Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo: 157,826 euros
  • Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo: 191,706 euros

If we compare it with the equivalent versions of the Taycan with Performance Plus battery, the Cross Turismo is only about 1,000 euros more expensive. The “advantage” for the Taycan is that you can choose a rear-wheel-drive version as the entry point to the range. Or you can opt for the Performance battery, which lowers the purchase price by around 6,000 euros. Although our advice, if you are going to buy a Taycan, is always to opt for the higher-capacity battery.

As a curiosity, note something that also happens across the Taycan range: what the top-of-the-range model, the Turbo S, costs, you could buy… two “basic” Cross Turismos.
