Skoda Kodiaq RS: The Ultimate Test
The first SUV in the RS family of Skoda undergoes a demanding track driving test in the hands of a rally champion such as Jan Kopecký. This is the driver’s verdict after driving the sporty version of the popular SUV
The most popular SUV in the Skoda family arouses the curiosity of both enthusiasts and motoring professionals. This is what the world rally champion Jan Kopecký must have been thinking when he got behind the wheel of the Skoda Kodiaq RS: “I associate SUVs with off-road driving, but I was genuinely surprised on tarmac.”

The Skoda Kodiaq RS does not hide its sporty side. Its 2.0 TDI twin-turbo engine delivers 240 CV with 500 Nm of torque, and it is paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox and seven speeds. It also comes with a permanent all-wheel-drive system as standard, as the Czech driver rightly points out: “It is very secure, it responds quickly and it is very manoeuvrable, despite its size and weight.”

Regarding the vehicle’s external behaviour, we can also highlight its rigid chassis, which provides balance when driving: “You can even slide the car around, which is surprising for such a large vehicle”, Jan remarked after the demanding test.
But what really surprised the driver? The sound, both inside and outside, is the first Skoda fitted with Dynamic Sound Boost technology, which gives it a much sportier sound: “The car sounds great, the sound is very well tuned, it doesn’t sound like a four-cylinder diesel engine – more like an eight-cylinder one”, Kopecký concluded.

The Czech driver’s verdict is outstanding: the Kodiaq RS has passed the test in the hands of a rally driver, something the brand actively seeks in order to maintain its prestige in the world of motorsport, especially in rallying. The first step has been taken, and now all that remains is to wait for its evolution.
