Smart #1, the future of the small city car is electric and more sustainable
The arrival of the smart#1 represents a step forward for the brand, which turns its city car into an efficient and sustainable electric vehicle to enjoy.

Society faces an important challenge, which it must overcome in a very short time and which will make a great difference in terms of sustainability. Electric mobility is here to stay, and users want electric vehicles to meet all the requirements demanded to improve urban spaces. Those vehicles that must arrive as soon as possible have to be efficient, attractive and, above all, functional.
The challenge of electric mobility applies above all to cities. City councils are working to establish low-emission zones in city centres and thus reduce emissions of polluting gases. Little by little, combustion-engined vehicles will be relegated to interurban journeys, and soon even routes between cities will be taken over by electric vehicles. City cars, such as those offered by smart, must also adapt to these new conditions.

Faced with this challenge, it is necessary to offer models capable of meeting Zero Emissions regulations. Reliable vehicles with sufficient range for day-to-day use, and as attractive as the combustion-engine cars we know. A fairly effective option is the new smart#1, the brand’s new compact SUV.
An electric car has to be everything a combustion-engine car is, but without the annoying emission of polluting gases. Getting around the city without producing fumes that affect health and without generating noise that disturbs the tranquillity sought at all times is a luxury that can already be enjoyed.
The interior space is also important, even in a city car. Comfort is essential for getting around the city, and even more so if it is an electric car that has to travel on the road. Comfortable seats so that every journey becomes a pleasure, and boot space to carry the shopping, the suitcases we take on trips, or anything else we need to transport.
Looking at safety, today’s vehicles are equipped with several driver assistance systems, known as ADAS. These help the driver, making getting behind the wheel of a smart much safer. Driver assistance systems feature sensors and cameras that allow the driver and the vehicle’s control system to be aware of everything happening around them.

In the case of the smart#1, there are four equipment levels. Each level includes a base specification and is increased as the trim level rises. From the headlights with adaptive matrix LED technology, the perimeter camera, cruise control with braking function and lane-keeping assist that equip the entry version, up to the head-up display projecting the instrument cluster onto the windscreen.
This allows the driver to have all the information on speed, battery charge and other relevant data in view without having to take their eyes off the road. A more than practical measure for getting around the city, where the level of attention required is usually greater.

But none of this makes sense without a range capable of allowing you to drive all day and reach your destination without fear of running out of energy. A range of up to 440 kilometres is more than adequate for day-to-day use and also for medium-distance journeys. And with motors ranging from 272 CV and a maximum torque of 343 Nm in the models with a single motor. In the case of the smart#1 Brabus, a second motor is added on the front axle, adding 113 kW of power. In total, this model has a total output of 315 kW, equivalent to 422 CV, and a maximum torque of 542 Nm.
With all this and a top speed of 180 km/h, you can enjoy an electric vehicle for the city, but also for moving freely along streets, roads and motorways without missing a polluting combustion engine.
