The 10 best-selling cars so far in 2019
Car sales continue on a negative trend, with SUVs being the best-selling segment, ahead of compact cars.

The sales figure for cars so far this year keeps trending downwards, and if the focus is placed on the month of February, vehicle registrations have fallen by 7% according to data from Aniacam compared with last year. So far this year 200,326 units have been sold. The ranking of the 10 best-selling cars so far in 2019 shows, significantly, the decline when compared with the previous year.
The Spanish automotive sector is experiencing a decline at the start of 2019, and the numbers only reflect a negative trend. In these two months, January and February, the ranking of the 10 best-selling cars has undergone some changes and reveals a few surprises.

The model leading the list of the 10 best-selling cars in 2019 is the Dacia Sandero, with 5,667 units sold in the January and February period. The second place is taken by the Seat León, with 5,538 units, and third place goes to the Nissan Qashqai, with 5,383 units. The Japanese SUV has put up a tough fight with the Dacia Sandero, but so far the title of best-selling car of 2019 belongs to the Dacia model.
Fourth, but no less deserved, place goes to the Seat Ibiza. The Martorell brand has managed to register 4,576 units. One of the great surprises in this table is the presence of the Opel Corsa, which has carved out a spot in fifth position with 3,800 units sold. Another supermini takes sixth place in the ranking, the Renault Clio, which has managed to register 3,708 units.

The seventh position is held by the Peugeot 3008. The SUV from the lion brand has increased its sales figure to 3,678 units. A German car, the legendary Volkswagen Golf, takes eighth place in the ranking with 3,630 units sold, no longer being a reference in the compact segment.
Although it is not yet available at dealerships, the lion brand’s compact, the Peugeot 208, is performing strongly in the segment. It reaches this ranking with 3,561 units sold.
SUVs dominate in 2019

In tenth place in the classification sneaks in the Seat Arona, the new B-SUV from the Spanish brand, which is making a strong impression with 3,558 units. Part of its success is probably down to its Compressed Natural Gas engine option.
Among the conclusions that can be drawn from this table, the lasting dominance of the SUV segment stands out: of the ten positions, two are occupied by models belonging to this niche, together totalling more than 49,000 units sold so far this year.
