The Cadillac Escalade will not be cancelled for the time being

The Cadillac Escalade, which had been in danger of disappearing, will continue to be produced following GM’s decision.

Anyone who has seen a Cadillac Escalade in the flesh will understand that this vehicle is an absolute folly, even though it carries the exclusive brand and logos of Cadillac. Not even in the US, a country where petrol is no longer as cheap as water as it once was, but where these SUVs are still treated almost as a religion, did people agree on whether to cancel the Escalade or not.

While Cadillac keeps trying to assert itself against brands that are trying to compete in the same segment, some of them Japanese and others the almost unbeatable German marques, the Escalade has been given a second chance, since GM has decided not to cancel it, given that the sales profits are quite hefty for GM.

The preferred vehicle of many stars of the art world is not exactly an economical car (even though a hybrid version exists), but that becomes secondary when it comes to the profit report; of the 64,000 dollars it costs in the US for the entry-level model, a large part ends up in Cadillac’s pockets, which is not the case with the CTS-V or XTS.

The Escalade has its advantages and its disadvantages; however strange it may seem, the Escalade is probably the last Cadillac that is truly a Cadillac: big, spacious and a gas guzzler, in the best tradition of the brand. But on the other hand the profits are substantial because simply there is no investment in the Escalade to make it a better vehicle, so everything obtained from selling each of these beasts is pure profit. Perhaps it is not the best approach a model should have, but while some people keep buying it, GM will be happy for it to survive a while longer in the Cadillac lineup.
