The Geely Coolray arrives in Romania and takes on the Dacia Duster on its home turf
The Geely brand has launched its Coolray urban SUV in Romania, before taking it to other markets, and wants to challenge the Dacia Duster.

Chinese-made cars are arriving in Europe, and many models are being discovered. Most of them first arrive in one specific country and then distribution expands to other countries. Romania is not usually one of these countries, but curiously it is one where several models from the Geely brand are being distributed, so it is one of the entry and testing points for these models.
The Geely Coolray is one of these models that have reached the Romanian market and is presented as a rival to the Dacia Duster. And be careful, because it is in the same market where the latter originates, so the Romanian brand must be wary of it. They compete in the same segment, so we are dealing with a compact urban SUV, small in size and with certain capabilities that make it quite attractive.

A rival to beat the Duster
This SUV has a length of 4,380 millimetres, a width of 1,810 millimetres and a height of 1,610 millimetres, with a wheelbase of 2,600 millimetres. We can find a quite attractive and large grille. The bumpers are quite large and it features a two-tone bodywork.

Other exterior details of the model that stand out are 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and, also at the rear, connected LED taillights that offer a light signature that is quite recognisable. The four exhaust outlets also stand out, giving it a rather sporty look.
Inside, we see that the instrument display measures 10.25 inches. The central screen is 12.3 inches. In front of these, there are heated sport seats, and the floating central console houses the gear selector. The upholstery is imitation suede.

As for safety equipment, it includes six airbags and a complete range of ADAS. Among the included systems, we can find lane change assist and high beam assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and a 540º camera, which also allows you to see what is underneath the vehicle.
Engine
Under the bonnet we find a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It delivers 175 CV and a maximum torque of 290 Nm, reached between 2,500 and 3,000 rpm. This engine is paired with a seven-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
With this engine it achieves a consumption of 5.8 litres per 100 kilometres and offers a top speed of 200 km/h. If you ask about acceleration, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
We do not yet know what price it will have in the different European markets, but in Romania it is priced at 26,990 euros.
