The Koenigsegg Agera RS has just been declared the fastest production vehicle, reaching 447 km/h and surpassing the Bugatti Chiron and other supercars.

The battle currently being waged is one of titans, and the duel is becoming more and more interesting. I’m talking about that constant war to see which of these supercars will become the fastest in the world. The Bugatti Chiron and the Koenigsegg Agera RS have been fighting for the title since the moment they were born, and now they have been joined by a tough contender, the Hennessey Venom F5. The Swedish brand has taken a step forward, which has culminated in a new speed record for the Agera RS.

A month ago, the Koenigsegg supercar set the record for reaching 400 km/h and coming to a complete stop again, a feat it achieved in the impressive time of 36.44 seconds. This meant that second place went to the Bugatti Chiron, which completes that task in 41.96 seconds.

But the Agera RS was not satisfied and continued in search of a new record. It was at this point that the supercar recorded a top speed of 447 km/h, a figure that positions it as the fastest production vehicle to date. For now, this will remain the case until the Venom F5 makes an appearance on the track to demonstrate its performance, which promises to be impressive.

To reach that speed, the Koenigsegg Agera RS travelled to the United States, where long straight roads were waiting for it with open arms. The impressive speed achieved puts its main rivals in a tight spot, but we are sure they will not stand idly by.

We are still waiting for Bugatti to present a more radical version of the Chiron, as it did with its predecessor, the Veyron Super Sport. In this way, the French brand will push its limits and will try to surpass the Agera RS.

Let us recall that under the hood of the Koenigsegg Agera RS we find a twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 1160 CV of power. The powerful engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox and features an advanced aerodynamic design, a crucial element to be able to run at more than 400 km/h.

It is true that between the Bugatti Chiron and the Agera RS there is a difference of 340 CV in favour of the French supercar, but there is a fundamental factor: weight. The Chiron weighs practically two tonnes, while the Swedish sports car claims 1395 kilograms, giving the Agera a very favourable power-to-weight ratio.

Koenigsegg is going home with a beaming smile and plenty of reasons to be proud of its work, but this war is surely not over yet. We will keep a close eye on all the moves made by the other brands, because they will be making their announcements very soon.
