The Koenigsegg Chimera is a blend of three great hypercars, and it is just as spectacular as that sounds

This one-of-a-kind model was created for the president of the FIA and is based on the Agera RS already owned by its owner, but enhanced with elements from others.

The world of hypercars is very, very exclusive. If in the traditional car market there are many customisation options, when we talk about hypercars, the only limit is money and the owners’ imagination. The latest example of this is the Koenigsegg Chimera, a one-off model which, like the mythological creature, is made up of elements from the brand’s three living models.

The Chimera is a one-off built on an Agera RS, into which elements from two other models of the brand have been incorporated: the CC850 and the Jesko. The owner of this exclusive model is Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA. The Agera RS was part of the fleet driven by the millionaire, but when the CC850 appeared, he wanted to upgrade his car and make it even more spectacular.

So he contacted Koenigsegg and requested the changes he was interested in for his Agera RS. His request was to fit the Jesko’s engine and the CC850’s manual gearbox. Of course, the brand accepted the challenge, because this transformation is anything but simple.

The main challenge the Koenigsegg engineers faced was the difference in age between the models. The technology used in the Agera RS could be incompatible with the CC850, as there is a ten-year gap between them. This meant the wiring had to be changed to make the gearbox and engine compatible with the new components in a car that is a decade old.

The Jesko’s engine is also used in the CC850, but in this case it has been modified to produce 1,280 CV on regular petrol, rising to 1,600 CV when running on E85 fuel. The change also requires engineering modifications to the car, as this swap is quite special and calls for changes to the car’s structure. The Chimera benefits from the option of an automatic or manual gearbox operated via paddles.

It is not the only supercar kept in Ben Sulayem’s garage. His collection is valued at more than 75 million dollars, and includes a Ferrari LaFerrari, a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Strassenversion, a Aston Martin Valkyrie, a McLaren Senna, a Pagani Huayra BC, a Porsche 911 GT2 Strassenversion and two McLaren Speedtails.
