Clase C Mercedes Convertibles Coupés
The Mercedes Clase C Coupé and Cabrio adopt the AMG badge with the number 43
Mercedes announces the arrival of the 43 AMG version on the Clase C Coupé and Cabrio. Both bodystyles will feature a V6 capable of delivering 390 CV.

All brands seek, to a greater or lesser extent, to offer a range of products that suit the needs of all their potential customers. This philosophy is also being applied to the performance versions of certain models, which offer varying degrees of radicality and different bodystyles. A clear example of this is the Mercedes Clase C, one of the most interesting models within the star brand’s lineup, a trait that is accentuated by the presence of a new 43 AMG variant.
It is true that the introduction of this new engine -and designation- we first saw at Geneva in the saloon version of the Clase C. However, the German firm has decided to give the coupé and cabriolet bodystyles an even more sporty and fun character, lwhich adopt that badge and offer a tuning and exclusive design of the AMG variants.
Aesthetically, we can notice that the 43 AMG variants include more aggressive and sporty features, but more restrained than those of their bigger siblings. The front bumper is dominated by the large star that represents the German firm and includes a front splitter flanked by two wide air intakes. The rear features a small spoiler finished in carbon fibre, which enhances the sportiness of the new C43 AMG and, at the same time, the diffuser houses four cylindrical outlets characteristic of this variant.

If we step inside this souped-up Mercedes Clase C, we will find a multitude of new elements that form part of the facelift the model underwent recently. The first thing that catches the eye is the incorporation of a steering wheel with a completely new design, which debuted with the latest update to the flagship Mercedes, the Clase S. Thanks to top-quality aluminium and Alcantara the interior of the C43 AMG shows a character in keeping with the exterior and, above all, with the mechanics.

But this member of the AMG family aims to offer more than just power and fun, it also offers a high level of technology. The new Clase C incorporates a fully digital instrument cluster, which provides all the information the driver needs. To enhance the experience of driving the C43 AMG, the Mercedes designers have incorporated three display modes in the instrumentation: Classic, Sport or Supersport.

However, the tuning of this new 43 AMG is in keeping with the vehicle’s philosophy in every respect. This is because if we open the bonnet we find a powerful 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine capable of producing 390 CV of power and 520 Nm of torque, figures that place the entry-level AMG Clase C at a very high level, with a top speed of 250 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.7 seconds in the Coupé and 4.8 in the Cabrio. To complete the package and properly convey the brutality of the V6, the engineers at Mercedes have opted for a nine-speed automatic gearbox and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
Another innovation in this range is the AMG Ride Control suspension, which allows the driver to adjust the suspension settings depending on the type of journey being undertaken. This is thanks to the four-link front axle and multi-link rear axle, which work together to deliver optimal driving dynamics in the C43 AMG Coupé and Cabrio. To round things off, the German sports car is assisted by a variable-ratio steering developed by AMG, which provides firmer or lighter steering depending on the speed at which we are travelling.

This engine and tuning package is the ideal partner for further emphasising the essence of a Coupé and a Cabrio, two bodystyles that complement each other perfectly with the V6. Although we do not yet know when this variant will reach the market, we can assure you that they will be the ideal choice for enjoying the summer and the good weather that will arrive in a few months’ time.
