The new Mercedes C 63 AMG arrives more dynamic and agile than ever
Mercedes has taken advantage of the Class C restyling to also improve the 63 AMG, which includes numerous changes to make it more agile and dynamic.

The evolution of car segments is undeniable, and we can see how most of them are growing at a staggering pace. Mercedes, which has not yet been willing to show the world the next generation of the C-Class, has offered us a restyling of one of its most successful saloons affecting all engines and body styles. The C 63 AMG arrives as the epitome of sportiness, where power and efficiency go hand in hand. However, the star brand wanted to go further and that is why it offers attractive novelties in the most powerful version of the C-Class.
A few days ago we told you that the upcoming Mercedes A-Class Saloon had been awarded the prize for the most aerodynamic vehicle, but the German firm was not satisfied and has decided to go further with the C 63 AMG. To do so, Mercedes has refined not only aesthetic and interior details, but also some fundamental components so that the mechanics work in a more precise and efficient way.
Mercedes has decided to focus on the dynamics and agility of the C 63 AMG, two essential characteristics in a vehicle with a clear sporty character. The German engineers have kept the mechanics we had seen until now in the most radical version of the C-Class, but important changes have been made to the gearbox and the drivetrain.

For the first time we find the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G automatic gearbox in the Mercedes C 63 AMG, which is characterised by offering a nine-speed ratio. A wet clutch replaces the torque converter, saving weight and refining the precision of gear changes and improving the response to the driver’s commands through the accelerator pedal. In this way, the C 63 AMG has a strong advantage over the pre-restyling version.
On the other hand, driving the Mercedes C 63 AMG is enhanced thanks to AMG Dynamic Select, which allows the driver to choose between five driving modes. These vary the engine response, the gearbox, the exhaust sound and the intervention of traction control. At the same time, this driving mode selector is supported by the innovative AMG Dynamics, a system that expands the functions of the ESP.

This system uses sensors to measure speed, wheel angle or yaw rate when we enter a corner, being able to anticipate the driver’s reaction and provide additional assistance to avoid any loss of control. In this way, the engineers at Mercedes have managed to create a system capable of preventing excessive reactions without being too rigid with the driver. At the same time, AMG Dynamics will allow its users to choose between the following modes: Basic, Advanced, Pro and Master, the latter being restricted for use on the track only.
Last but not least, we find the AMG Traction Control and the AMG Ride Control, two systems implemented to meet the goal of making the C 63 much more dynamic. The new traction system works to prevent involuntary rear-end movements on wet surfaces and, at the same time, allows the driver to play with it to bring out the wilder side of the German sports car.

The AMG Ride Control features adaptive adjustable suspension, which is managed according to the driver’s preferences and the driving mode they wish to apply. At the same time, there is a rear limited-slip differential, which helps the C 63 AMG follow the right trajectory at all times. In this way, the up to 510 CV of power that the supercharged V8 can deliver will be much more controllable, fun and easy to manage for less experienced drivers.
