The new Renault Scenic is about to arrive, and these are its 6 engines

Scenic 1

Just a month ago we got a first-hand look at the renewal of the Renault Scenic, one of the most popular models in the MPV segment.

We are talking about its fourth generation, which reinvents itself to compete with confidence now that the compact SUV segment is wreaking havoc on sales of pure MPVs.

The new generation of the Renault Scenic shows very advanced shapes, which bear certain similarities to other models from the diamond brand, especially at the front, with a style reminiscent of the Megane and Espace, which have also been recently renewed.

Although a few months remain before the first units arrive in our country, with launch planned for late summer, the Scenic’s range is already well defined. It seems diesel engines will continue to prevail over petrol, although petrol engines are gradually regaining the ground they lost years ago.

Four diesel engines in two different displacements

As for diesel powertrains, the Scenic is set to offer four engines. The entry option will be the 1.5 dCi with 95 CV, commercially called dCi 95. It will only be available with the low and mid trim levels. The second power step will be the dCi 110, also based on the 1.5 dCi. According to Renault’s forecasts, it will be one of the most popular variants.

In third place is the dCi 130, which already uses the 1.6 dCi. Together with the aforementioned dCi 110, it will account for the majority of sales. Finally, as a technological showcase, the Scenic will feature the dCi 160, an evolution of the 1.6 dCi with twin turbo. Although it is presumably a minority option, it will be the most powerful diesel Scenic in the model’s history.

6 mechanical options make up the initial offer for the fourth generation Scenic

In diesel versions, all engines come standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox, although the 110 CV variant can also be paired with a 7-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission, an option also available on the dCi 130, which will feature the 6-speed EDC.

Two petrol engines will complete the offer

On the petrol side, the options are reduced to two, both with a four-cylinder engine and 1.2 litres of displacement. The less powerful will be the TCe 115 CV (TCe 115), while the most powerful variant goes up to 130 CV (TCe 130). Both will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

As the months go by, Renault may surprise us with the addition of another mechanical option, especially in the petrol range, where its rivals already offer variants close to 150 CV.
