The Porsche 911 GT3 RS goes on a diet to become even more radical with the Weissach package
Porsche wanted to make the 911 GT3 RS even more radical, and it has achieved this with the Weissach package. This means a weight reduction of 18 kilograms.

Supercars know no limits and evolve constantly and unpredictably, since manufacturers always play tricks and surprises with their latest creations. Just when we thought Porsche had finished radicalising the 911 with the GT2 RS, it leaves us speechless again with its flagship model. One of the main highlights of this latest edition of the Geneva Motor Show was the new GT3 RS, but the German brand has wanted to sweeten this version with the Weissach package.
This term was first applied to the Porsche 918 Spyder, a hypercar offered in two versions, one of which was tasked with carrying the Weissach name on its back. This designation involved a considerable weight reduction and a more spartan interior, where some basic components could be removed to make it even lighter. The 911R offered some similar options but never presented that variant, and it was not until the GT2 RS that we heard the Weissach name again.
However, the German brand has wanted to keep expanding this designation and the third vehicle to receive it has been the GT3 RS. As we told you, this package makes our nine-eleven lighter with the aim of having an even more radical car, since in its “standard” version it has a claimed weight of 1,505 kg. In the Weissach variant, the 911 goes on a diet and manages to shed 18 kg, a figure that does not seem very impressive but that in practice helps a great deal.

To reduce the weight of a car, Porsche relies on two fundamental procedures: removing the most mundane elements that will do little to help us on the track, and using the essential element for a car to slim down, carbon fibre. Both the interior and exterior of the GT3 RS are clad in this material , and this further accentuates the supercar essence that emanates from this 911.
You don’t need to look very closely to identify the various components that have been modified thanks to the Weissach package, such as the bonnet, which is completely covered in carbon fibre, and the wheels, which are inherited from the GT2 RS. These have been made from magnesium in order to considerably reduce weight and, in turn, the powerful rear wing that houses the naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine has been forged from carbon fibre.
Several of the main mechanical components have also opted for this material, such as the anti-roll bars or the track rods. The roof of the GT3 RS is also made from carbon fibre, but one of the elements that contributes most to the 911’s weight reduction is, without a doubt, the roll cage, which is made entirely from titanium and is 12 kilos lighter than the one offered in the Clubsport package. However, the heart of the German supercar remains intact, since it is still the same naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six capable of producing 520 CV of power.

The new power-to-weight ratio offered by the 911 GT3 RS with the new Weissach package makes the Stuttgart supercar even more special. Making our Porsche even more radical will be possible after an outlay of 18,000 dollars, equivalent to almost 15,000 euros at current exchange rates, a figure we would be willing to pay depending on how much we want an authentic circuit-devouring machine.
