Following the example of its big brother, the Passat, the seventh generation of the VW Golf debuts an Alltrack version, ready to bring adventure and fun to its lucky drivers.

It will arrive in a few months, around mid-2015, with its presentation scheduled for the Paris Motor Show.

The Golf Alltrack can be briefly described as a Golf Variant that has put on its work clothes to go to the countryside. Basically, and at first glance, it may look something like this. The exterior features a series of modifications that we already saw at the time on the Passat Alltrack, such as the renewed bumpers, the alloy wheels with a specific design, or the black plastic add-ons that enhance its rugged image, in the purest Allroad style. These plastic additions run along the entire lower contour of the bodywork, including the wheel arches. In addition, a couple of metal plates add extra protection both at the front and at the rear.

Inside, the modifications are not extraordinary, although there are details that set it apart from the other versions of the Golf range, such as specific upholstery, black roof and pillar trim, or moldings finished in an exclusive material.
As for the chassis, the Alltrack will feature a suspension raised by an additional 20 mm compared to the standard models, which, combined with an all-wheel-drive system controlled by a Haldex clutch, gives this Golf above-average off-road capability.

Numerous electronic systems are also standard, such as XDS, EDS (electronic differential lock), or the “Off-Road” driving profile, which modifies the throttle, steering and brake response to adapt to driving off the asphalt. As for the engines, the Alltrack will reach the market with a range of four engines, one petrol and three diesel. The first is the 1.8 TSI unit with 180 CV, paired exclusively with a six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel offer starts with the 1.6 TDI with 110 CV, also adding the 2.0 TDI engine in two power levels, 150 and 184 CV.
