These are the 10 best-selling cars in May 2021 in our country

May saw 95,403 new car sales. SEAT was the clear winner in sales. If you want to see how the list continues, keep reading!

Seat Arona 6

This May 2021 represented a huge growth of 177% in new car registrations compared to 2020, a year deeply marked by the major crisis caused by the pandemic.

Compared with May 2019, a fairer date for comparison, this May 2021 saw 22% fewer sales, making it a rather unfavourable month for new car sales.

Top 10 best-selling cars

The best-selling car was the SEAT Arona with 3,629 units. A car that was recently renewed by the Spanish brand.

The small SUV from Martorell was the clear winner, with a lead of 1,091 vehicles over its closest follower, the second best-seller.

The SEAT Arona is one of the best options in its segment, as it offers a range of engines ranging from petrol, diesel or compressed natural gas if you want the ECO label from the DGT. All this at a very attractive price (from 17,130 euros) and with good equipment.

Seat Arona 7

The number two spot goes to the SEAT Ibiza. The SEAT compact, like the Arona, has been the subject of a restyling with major innovations in its interior, as it has become more technological.

2,538 units of the Ibiza were sold, and it is no coincidence that it takes second place behind the Arona, since its ingredients are the same apart from the difference in bodywork between the two.

Its engine range is quite varied, with engines ranging from 80 CV up to the 150 CV of the group’s 1.5 TSI. Its price starts from 19,410 euros.

Seat Ibiza Facelift 02

Third place on the podium goes to the Citroën C3, of which a total of 2,279 units were sold.

Like the Arona, the C3 offers a great price-to-product ratio. With a great ride comfort thanks to its suspension tuning and its petrol and diesel engines delivering from 83 CV to 110 CV, it makes a very attractive option.

The drawback of this model is that it has no versions equipped with the ECO or CERO labels from the DGT, an advantage the Arona does have. Its price starts from 16,650 euros.

SEAT is once again the protagonist in fourth place with the SEAT León, Spain’s Car of the Year. 2,155 units of the León were sold, a model that stands among the most interesting options in the compact segment.

The SEAT León offers good finishes and great equipment, which, together with the many engine options the Spanish brand has added to its line-up, such as the 190 CV plug-in hybrid variant, makes it one of the first that comes to mind if you want a balanced car at a good price (from 26,350 euros).

Fifth place is taken by the Volkswagen T-Roc 2020 with 2,074 units sold.

The moderately sized SUV from Volkswagen has a good boot, good interior space and great ride comfort. Its price starts from 24,784 euros.

As for its engines, there are petrol versions ranging from 115 CV up to the 300 CV of the T-Roc R that we tested at the Jarama, and TDI versions from 115 CV up to 150 CV.

The New Volkswagen T Roc Cabriolet

Sixth place goes to the smaller sibling of the T-Roc, namely the T-Cross, of which 1,969 units have been sold.

Although it costs more than the Arona, the T-Cross is an interesting option if you need a small SUV that suits your needs, and if the styling of the T-Cross appeals to you more than that of the SEAT.

Engines range from 95 CV to 150 CV, as with its cousin the Arona, but a DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox is available.

Volkswagen T Cross

Eighth place goes to the SUV from Peugeot, the 3008. This car has been a sales success since it went on sale in 2016 in its SUV version.

In May, 1,894 units of the 3008 were sold; it was renewed relatively recently. Its interior equipment boasts good finishes, up-to-date technology, good interior space and a wide range of engines, making it a truly versatile vehicle whether in its plug-in hybrid, petrol or diesel versions.

The price of the Peugeot 3008 starts from 30,900 euros.

Finally, ninth place is taken by yet another SEAT. In this case the SEAT Ateca. This SUV, like the 3008, has been a tremendous success for the brand since it went on sale.

This same 2021, like its siblings, it underwent a restyling in which its lights, bumpers, wheels and interior elements were changed. As one of the best options in the C-segment SUV category, the Ateca starts from 18,600 euros thanks to its offers.

Its engine range is also very varied, and with its restyling the 2.0 TDI 115 CV and 2.0 TDI 150 CV versions with 4Motion all-wheel drive have been added to complete the line-up.

In last place we have the Fiat 500 in tenth position among the best-selling vehicles in May, with 1,767 units.

The Fiat 500 is already a classic on our streets which, with the recently launched hybrid and 100% electric version, makes it an urban car with which to drive around the city in a truly comfortable way thanks to its small size.

The price of the Fiat 500 starts from 16,200 euros, although with a promotion on the Fiat, you can get the hybrid version from 10,173 euros.
