Hyundai has presented an electric version of the Creta, a model that is available in several markets, but which we will not see on the Spanish market.

Major manufacturers not only target the global market, but also focus on certain markets. For that reason, we find models that never reach the European market and remain in certain countries. However, these limited-distribution models can serve to test new models and equipment that end up being applied in the global market.

The Hyundai Creta is sold in several markets, but it has not reached Europe. In any case, it has not arrived in this form. But the appearance of this electric version in India makes us eager to see what form this model will take in European markets when the company decides to bring it over, either as a known model or as a new one with different features.

Second generation and electric version

The exterior design of the Hyundai Creta has improved over the previous generation, so we find an aesthetic that is different and closer to the current models of the Korean brand. The addition of the electric drivetrain will make us look at it closely. The electric version will feature a redesigned front end, with a changed front section, and the front grille is eliminated, as it is unnecessary on an electric model.

The front air intake located in the front bumper features active aerodynamic flaps, which make it more efficient. At the rear, a pixelated pattern has been placed on the rear bumper to give it a more attractive look. Unlike the Hyundai Creta with a combustion engine, this version uses 17-inch wheels, which have been designed to optimise its aerodynamics.

We do not know the power of the electric motor, but Hyundai has revealed other details about the electric model. For example, we know it will be available with two battery packs. The first has a capacity of 42 kWh, while the top of the range has a battery pack with a capacity of 51.4 kWh.

With these two batteries, a distance of 390 kilometres and 473 kilometres can be covered, respectively. Of course, these figures are recorded on the ARAI homologation cycle. These batteries can be charged with direct current, from 10 to 80% in 58 minutes. If charging is done with an 11 kW alternating current charger, it takes four hours.

As for the motor, despite the lack of information, it is expected to be a single motor located on the front axle. With this partial information, the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is expected to be 7.9 seconds. It will be possible to drive in three driving modes: ECO, NORMAL and SPORT.

As for equipment, it has two screens. The one that displays the instrument cluster and the one dedicated to the infotainment system are both 10.25-inch. In addition, a plug located under the rear seat allows electrical devices to be powered thanks to the vehicle’s V2L capability.
