We've had a first look at the new Honda Civic e:HEV, a very interesting hybrid that will arrive in October
The new Honda Civic e:HEV will reach dealerships in October, will offer 184 CV of power and will be exempt from the registration tax.

We’ve had the chance to see the new Honda Civic e:HEV. It is a hybrid model that will mark 50 years of the legendary Honda model’s history. Furthermore, the Honda Civic has become one of the most popular hatchbacks in the world, having managed to sell more than 27.5 million units. The brand itself has assured that the Honda Civic e:HEV “offers a rewarding driving experience with very competitive levels of efficiency and emissions”.
It is important to highlight that the e:HEV achieves the best thermal efficiency in the sector at 41%, bearing in mind that F1 engines achieve 50%. As far as consumption is concerned, according to the WLTP cycle it could consume 4.7 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 108 g/km, which means it would be exempt from paying the new registration tax. It will be available at dealerships in October and will deliver 184 CV, 135 kW and 315 Nm of maximum engine torque.
After eleven generations, the Honda Civic celebrates 50 years, becoming a true icon of the C segment. Since 1972, the Honda Civic has been conceived as a compact two-door saloon. Now, the new generation of the Civic keeps the model’s characteristics.

This is the new Honda Civic e:HEV
The new Civic will feature the brand’s e:HEV full hybrid unit, which combines a high power-density lithium-ion battery and two compact, powerful electric motors with a petrol unit and 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle. As a result, thermal efficiency has been improved to 41%, the best in the sector. In addition, the model features a direct injection system optimised to deliver much more efficient combustion and greater engine torque. Among other elements, the new Civic has an active low-temperature catalyser and a modified intake port.
The brand’s e:HEV unit is capable of switching smoothly and automatically between electric, hybrid and combustion modes without the driver having to intervene. The driver can choose between four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual.

Honda has stated that “this exciting flexibility is underpinned by exceptional levels of refinement, with special attention paid to eliminating noise and vibration. In the combustion engine, a second balance shaft and a high-rigidity crankshaft ensure smooth operation, while unwanted engine noise has been counteracted through greater insulation in the intake manifold and engine bay. In addition, the intelligent application of Active Noise Control (ANC) further limits the noise that may reach the cabin, while Active Sound Control (ASC) enhances the sporty tones of the internal combustion unit”.
Other elements have also been improved, such as the chassis: stability has been increased thanks to a 35 mm increase in wheelbase and a new 18 mm wider rear track. Straight-line stability, cornering and the overall response to driver inputs have been optimised by increasing body rigidity, as well as by fitting new low-friction ball joints and renewed front dampers to enhance the sense of dynamism.

Inside, the new high-quality materials with an exquisite feel stand out. The new Civic offers a very intuitive infotainment package. The size of the central touchscreen has been increased to nine inches and moved upwards to minimise the driver’s eye movement. The system is complemented by wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so that occupants can stay connected during journeys. In addition, the Advance version features twelve premium BOSE speakers to enjoy sound quality similar to that of a concert. The model also includes driver assistance and safety functions Honda Sensing.
