What makes the Taycan Turbo GT the most powerful Porsche in history?

The new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT combines a 900-amp electric motor, an impeccable aerodynamic design and a top speed of 305 km/h

Do you know what makes the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT so special? It’s not just its impeccable design, nor its top speed of 305 km/h, nor even its impressive 1,108 CV. It’s the sum of innovations that make it the most powerful and advanced electric sports car ever created.

The Taycan Turbo GT features a rear electric motor that operates with a 900-amp transformer, far surpassing the 600 amps of the Taycan Turbo S. This advance delivers an energy output never before seen in a production electric vehicle, providing the motor with an additional boost of up to 156 CV (115 kW) for two seconds. The result is an acceleration that defies the laws of physics.

The use of silicon carbide as the semiconductor material in the transformer is another key innovation. This material reduces energy losses and improves efficiency, enabling faster switching frequencies and superior sustained performance. According to Christian Müller, Technical Project Director for Taycan Special Vehicles at Porsche, “this development represents the cutting edge of electric technology applied to motorsport.”

To house the new transformer, Porsche redesigned parts of the bodywork, creating a “power dome” in the rear boot that not only enhances the aesthetics but also serves as a storage compartment. This detail highlights Porsche’s obsession with combining functionality and design.

Optimisation of the transmission and aerodynamics

The two-speed transmission on the rear axle was reinforced to handle the increase in power. The gears, bearings and clutches were adapted to withstand the high torque, and a longer ratio was introduced that allows a top speed of 305 km/h. Likewise, the front-axle transmission was adjusted to maintain consistency in performance.

Aerodynamics has also received significant improvements. The redesigned front and rear spoilers, together with the optimised underbody and 21-inch forged wheels, ensure exemplary dynamic behaviour at high speeds.

The Weissach Package

For the most demanding enthusiasts, the Taycan Turbo GT offers the Weissach package, which removes unnecessary equipment, such as the rear seats, to reduce weight by 70 kg. This extreme focus on lightweight construction allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds, making this model a perfect machine for the track.

Attack Mode: Formula E technology

Inspired by the Porsche 99X Electric from Formula E, Attack Mode delivers an additional boost of 163 CV (120 kW) for 10 seconds. Designed specifically for track use, this mode guarantees maximum performance under controlled conditions, setting a new standard in technology applied to electric motorsport.
