Discover 5 supercars you can still buy today with a manual gearbox option.

Today we present 5 supercars that keep the “classicism” of the manual gearbox that so many enthusiasts are dying for. The truth is that nowadays it is very hard to find a supercar with a manual option, and seeing one is not only a treat but a breath of fresh air for all of us. In my case, I will always be a defender of a manual gearbox over an automatic one for many reasons. To begin with, the connection with the car and the engine is much more intimate and personal, which also makes it safer and more intuitive, not to mention that it conveys far more and no internal computer comes in to regulate certain aspects.

The automatic gearbox is especially useful in traffic jams or for setting lap times on a circuit. But for any purist, a Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 is a dream come true and an indescribable pleasure behind the wheel.

Below we look at which 5 sports cars we can still, even today, buy with a wonderful manual gearbox.

Porsche 911 GT3

Porsche was one of the first sports car makers to stop offering its models with a manual gearbox. However, due to the enthusiastic type of customer who characterises many owners of the brand, the return of the manual gearbox was encouraged on certain models, in a limited way. The 2018 911 GT3 can be ordered with a manual gearbox at no extra cost. A great initiative, without doubt, to raise the prestige of the brand by caring for its most enthusiastic customers.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

This could easily be the last Corvette with the engine up front. Since this may well happen, Chevy wants to make sure it says goodbye to the layout that has defined the brand in the best possible way. It has a 6.2-litre V8 producing 755 CV, with an 8-speed automatic or a 7-speed manual option. For us the choice is obvious, though the price is not negligible either, from 110,000 EUR. Personally I love how that design suits the purest Batmobile style, and that interior, purist yet modern. Aggressive, powerful, manual and beautiful.

Lotus Evora GT430

The new Lotus Evora is a great experience of a purist sports car, attention to detail and simplicity within its complexity. With a 3.5-litre V6 engine, 430 CV and 325 lb-ft of torque, we can buy this beautiful little car with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This latest model is also the only one available to buy in North America. With a starting price of 120,000 EUR, it is a great option for those looking for sports cars like the ones of old.

Pagani Zonda

This is the most expensive supercar on the whole list, and perhaps also the hardest to get new. Horacio Pagani says he has stopped building Zondas, but if you somehow manage to persuade him (especially with a ridiculous amount of cash), the Pagani Zonda of your dreams can become reality. This jewel from the Italian maker is one of the most exclusive pieces in Lewis Hamilton’s collection. Combined with a V12 engine, the Zonda is one of the best supercars of all time and, being made to measure, you can order it with a manual gearbox, though be prepared to part with more than one million euros…

Noble M600

Jeremy Clarkson described this supercar as one of the fastest and best-handling ever created. Equipped with a powerful 650 CV V8 and 640 lb-ft of torque, you can buy this sports car with a manual gearbox. This model is not sold in America, and if you want one it will cost you about 220,000 EUR.
