Audi closes 2019 by adding a new plug-in hybrid to its range: the Q7 60 TFSIe Quattro, with a combined output of 456 CV

The latest half-year for the Audi range has seen the arrival of new plug-in hybrid models, including the Q5 and the A8, as well as the A6 and the A7 Sportback. Continuing this trend, Audi will close 2019 with the arrival of another plug-in hybrid model, already on sale in the Spanish market: the Q7 60 TFSIe Quattro.

As with the other recently presented plug-in hybrid models, Audi has wanted to flaunt its muscle, equipping the Q7 60 TFSIe Quattro with the same configuration found in the A8 60 TFSIe Quattro. Under its bonnet we find a powerful 3.0-litre V6 TFSI twin-turbo petrol engine delivering 340 CV, together with 450 Nm of torque. It is worth noting that this engine already meets the Euro 6d-TEMP standard, and also features a petrol particulate filter.

Linked to this petrol engine is an electric permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM), integrated within the housing of the eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox, which produces a maximum output of 94 kW and 350 Nm of torque. Thanks to these figures, the Audi Q7 60 TFSIe Quattro achieves a combined output of 456 CV and a combined torque of 700 Nm, enabling it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h.

Thanks to the use of both units, the combined petrol consumption of the Audi Q7 60 TFSIe Quattro is set at around 3.8 l/100 km, while combined electricity consumption is set at 24.9 kWh/100 km, along with CO2 emissions of 87 g/km, all figures achieved under the WLTP test cycle. In fully electric mode we can drive at speeds of up to 135 km/h, with a maximum range of 42 kilometres. The battery can be recharged from the left rear wing using the mode 3 cable supplied as standard. It is a lithium-ion battery which, incidentally, has an energy capacity of 17.3 kWh and is located under the boot floor. We can use its energy as we see fit thanks to the interaction modes between the two motors: EV, Auto and Hold, the latter two included within the Hybrid mode.

With the combination of these two motors, the Audi Q7 becomes a true sporty SUV, so its interior and exterior look matches its spirit. On the outside, the S Line styling package is present, including the same body paint for the lower areas and adding decorative inserts on both the front and rear bumpers. This line is also combined with the black design package, in which several exterior elements are painted in that colour. On top of all this, standard equipment includes Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch wheels with red brake calipers and adaptive air suspension.

Inside the Audi Q7 60 TFSIe Quattro, the S Line interior trim is also included, offering sport seats upholstered in Alcantara and leather with the S Line logo embossed, black roof lining and aluminium decorative trim. Finally, when the doors are opened, LED lights project the Audi logo onto the ground.

As I mentioned at the beginning, the new Audi Q7 60 TFSIe Quattro is already available in the Spanish market, with a starting price set at 89,460 euros. The first units will begin to be delivered to their future owners in early 2020.
