Brabus 1000, the spectacular tuning of the AMG GT 63 S E Performance with 1,000 CV of power

Brabus extracts every bit of power from the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance with a brutal tuning in every respect that has resulted in the Brabus 1000

Just as the AMG GT family is on everyone’s lips with the unveiling of the electric prototype Concept AMG GT XX and the also prototype, but with a radical character focused on track performance, Concept AMG GT Track Sport, the specialists at Brabus arrive and announce the arrival of the Brabus 1000 with a number that signals very high expectations.

Based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, the plug-in hybrid sports car from the Affalterbach house, the Brabus 1000 is a tuning package that extracts the maximum performance from this 2+2 coupé and its 4,000 cc twin-turbo V8 engine. Specifically, the factory certifies a displacement of 3,982 cc, which has been increased to 4,407 cc thanks to changes such as the cylinder bore diameter up to 84 mm, fitted with forged pistons, together with a stroke extended to 100 mm thanks to the specific solid aluminium crankshaft and the high-performance forged connecting rods.

Obviously these are not the only modifications made to the engine, since beneath the spectacular cover made of red carbon fibre lies a forced induction system with two Brabus high-performance turbochargers, not to mention the exhaust system made of stainless steel fitted with electronically controlled butterfly valves that allow its sound to be modified, whether to go as unnoticed as possible or to emit a spectacular roar from the V8.

Brabus has also taken charge of modifying the electronics that manage the combustion engine, which now produces 796 CV of power together with 1,250 Nm of torque at just 2,900 rpm (although it is electronically limited to 1,050 Nm). The hybrid system is completed by the permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor located on the rear axle, retaining the 204 CV of power that it certifies as standard, so that together they have enabled the Brabus 1000 to register a power output of 1,000 CV together with 1,820 Nm of torque (electronically limited to 1,620 Nm to protect the drivetrain components).

The rear motor still carries its own two-speed automatic gearbox, while the combustion engine works through the nine-speed Speedshift MCT automatic transmission, sending this enormous torque to all four wheels thanks to the 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. Thanks to all this, the Brabus 1000 is capable of reaching 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 2.6 seconds, then going on to 200 km/h in 9.5 seconds and reaching 300 km/h in 23.6 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 320 km/h.

All this display of power needs to be controlled during acceleration and at high speeds, which is why the Brabus engineers have designed a series of wind-tunnel-developed parts for the Brabus 1000 with the aim of improving aerodynamics, all of them in carbon fibre, available in either matt or gloss finish and optionally in another colour as a contrast. These parts include, for example, the front splitter with side fins, the wings just ahead of the front wheel arches, the channels applied to the front grille, the elaborate rear diffuser, or the simple yet spectacular rear spoiler that suits it perfectly. All of this is complemented by the Monoblock Z wheels of 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear, fitted with Continental or Hankook tyres, and finally by the adjustable suspension system.

To finish, Brabus has also worked on the interior of the Brabus 1000, installing a black leather upholstery combined with Dinamica suede in the same colour in a shell-shaped pattern, while the carbon fibre inserts and the various red-painted elements serve to convey notes of contrast and radicalism.

Brabus is now accepting orders for the Brabus 1000, with a price that will be around 445,900 euros, which may increase depending on the options we include, especially regarding exterior and interior styling.
