Chinese manufacturer GAC announces the launch in Europe of the Aion V from €35,990
Alongside the Aion V, the Chinese manufacturer has also presented the Aion UT. However, in this case there is still no specific confirmed date for its launch in Europe.
During the IAA Mobility show taking place this week in the German city of Munich, Chinese manufacturer GAC has announced the launch in Europe of the Aion V, its first global model. This electric SUV will reach some European markets at the end of this same month of September, with a starting price of €35,990.
It should be noted, however, that the European debut of the Aion V will take place almost a year later than the company originally planned. In October 2024, during the Paris Motor Show, GAC presented the Aion V as its pioneering model for the European market, and even offered test drives to attendees with units registered in France. The uncertainty created during this time, due to the European Union’s announcement of special tariffs on electric vehicles imported from China, seems to have been what caused this delay.

According to the manufacturer itself, the Aion V offers European customers the perfect combination of the main factors to consider when buying a vehicle, such as safety, sustainability, the comfort it offers and the technology it integrates. With a length of 4.60 metres and a wheelbase of 2.77 metres, this model sits in the mid-size compact SUV segment.
Nothing to worry about
In terms of safety, the Aion V has achieved a five-star rating in the crash tests carried out by Euro NCAP in Europe. The Chinese manufacturer has also wanted to highlight the safety offered by its battery pack, which can even withstand puncture tests with sharp objects without any incident occurring.
With a capacity of 75.3 kWh, this battery pack allows the Aion V to travel up to 510 km on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle. And when it comes to recharging, it can increase the state of charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 24 minutes, outperforming more expensive electric SUVs in this respect.

Sales of the Aion V will begin this month in Poland, Portugal and Finland, and will be extended to more countries with the goal of covering the entire European market by 2028. To achieve this, the brand is forming alliances with European commercial groups and already has dozens of points of sale. Additionally, GAC has opened a spare parts distribution centre in the Netherlands and has set up a local technical team to ensure efficient after-sales service.
