Delta 4x4 makes the Dacia Duster more capable off the asphalt

The Dacia Duster has been through the hands of the Germans at Delta 4×4 to become more fun off the asphalt, as well as sporting a more aggressive look

The Duster is the model in the Dacia range with the clearest off-road orientation, which, combined with its low price, gives us easier access to the 4×4 world. Even so, and although its second generation has improved substantially, the Duster is not a vehicle that can deliver pure off-road driving, just like the vast majority of SUVs, a segment that, due to its popularity, has pushed the more genuine off-roaders into the background.

That said, this does not mean that with some light modifications the Dacia Duster cannot expand its capabilities, and this is precisely what the German tuner Delta 4×4 has thought, specialising in adding the extra edge that 4x4s need. For this project they chose the Duster, a vehicle that at first glance might not seem the most suitable for this kind of preparation.

Besides giving the Dacia Duster a more radical look, the components fitted by Delta 4×4 will let it reach places the Duster previously could not, but the most interesting part is that Delta 4×4 will let us buy these components separately so we can fit whichever ones we like or, alternatively, opt for a joint kit, which will logically give us a better final price than buying them one by one.

Firstly, and as you can see in the images, the Dacia Duster is now taller thanks to the 30 mm increase in ground clearance achieved by Delta 4×4, which will allow us to travel along narrower tracks. To avoid any nasty surprises, a 5 mm thick aluminium underbody plate has also been fitted, offering greater protection underneath. At the front, we also get extra protection thanks to stainless steel bars, fully homologated to meet regulations.

But to tackle tricky surfaces we also need good footwear, and for this BF Goodrich All-Terrain 215/70R16 tyres have been chosen, which fit the standard wheels, although if you don’t like those, you can also choose from the alternatives Delta 4×4 offers in its Duster catalogue. And if, despite everything, we get ourselves into a bigger mess, we can always rely on the 2,000 kg capacity winch mounted on the front bumper, complemented by LED headlights for better visibility and a metal roof rack for luggage or, for example, carrying a spare wheel.

The prices of these various accessories are for the German market, but they give us a reference point:

  • The complete wheel set with the BF Goodrich tyres costs 1,790 euros.
  • The metal roof rack with its supports costs 798 euros.
  • The stainless steel front bars cost 296 euros.
  • The lift kit costs 450 euros.
  • The front winch costs 1,178 euros.
  • The front LED lights vary in price according to their power, but range from 300 to 949 euros.
