Fantasy comes to life: orders are now being accepted for the Ford GT

GT 1

The Ford GT has always been one of those unconditional favourites of the American brand, one of those iconic models that embodied the values of Ford at their finest.

Following the original model and the re-edition of the early 2000s, the third edition now arrives, more attractive than ever, and Ford is already accepting orders.

The story of the third generation of the Ford GT begins in 2015, when the brand with the oval unveiled the Ford GT Concept at the Detroit Motor Show. The public’s reaction was immediate and unequivocal: that concept had to see the light of day and become a production model.

And so it has happened. After touring various motor shows around the globe, the GT’s aura only kept growing and growing, creating an expectation from which it would no longer be easy to escape. Let’s just say the people at Ford had thrown the stone, and could no longer hide their hand, so in this case the dream had to come true.

Today the order window opens for the first 500 units

And so today, 13 April 2016, Ford has officially opened the window and orders for the GT, which can also now be configured on the American brand’s website. The third generation of this supercar thus begins its official journey as a production vehicle. And speaking of production, the brand’s forecasts for annual units hover around 250, so, as expected, this will be a truly exclusive model within reach of very few.

It should also be remembered that although the brand allows a kind of pre-reservation online, the potential customer will have to go through a sort of “examination” by the brand, which will ultimately give the final approval for the purchase of the vehicle. Once the process is complete, and when the car has been built, it will be transported to the dealership of the customer’s choice.

The Ford GT is powered by an Ecoboost twin-turbo V6 engine, capable of delivering “more than 600 CV”. Performance is expected to rival the likes of the Porsche 918 Spyder, although in this case there is no hybrid technology of any kind. The engine sends power to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch automatic transmission
