KIA starts accepting EV5 reservations in Canada

With this model, KIA breaks into the segment with the highest demand volume in the Canadian market and takes the first step in an offensive that will bring three other electric models to this market next year.

KIA Canada has just opened online reservations for the EV5, and at the same time has confirmed the official prices of this electric SUV for this market. Canadian customers will therefore have the privilege of getting behind the wheel of this new vehicle soon, being the only North Americans able to do so.

Let us recall that, as a consequence of the tariffs imposed by the current U.S. federal government on vehicles imported from South Korea, KIA recently decided to discontinue sales of this model in that market.

In Canada, the first customer deliveries of the EV5 will take place in early 2026. The range starts at CA$43,495 with the Light front-wheel-drive version and a 60.3 kWh battery pack. From the Wind trim onward, all versions come with the larger 81.4 kWh battery pack, and all-wheel drive is also offered as an option. The lineup is completed by the Land, GT-Line and GT-Line Limited AWD versions at the top of the range, with prices rising to CA$61,495.

There is no doubt this is a KIA

The EV5 adopts the modern design language of the South Korean manufacturer’s models based on the E-GMP platform, with clear references to its flagship, the EV9. On this model KIA has reinterpreted the distinctive “Tiger Face” grille of its recent electric models, integrating a fairly futuristic light signature at both the front and rear. The wheels range from 18 to 20 inches, and the car is offered in eight new paint colours, among which the Magma Red and Frost Blue stand out.

The interior is dominated by a huge digital surface of nearly 30 inches that combines the instrumentation and the multimedia system. Sustainable materials already seen in other electric models of the brand are also present. This model also stands out for the interior space it offers, especially when the rear seats are folded completely flat. The vehicle also has a storage space under the bonnet, and the gear selector has been placed on the steering column, unlike other models of the brand, to free up space in the centre console.

All EV5 units sold in Canada will integrate the NACS charging connector, which guarantees compatibility with the country’s growing network of high-power fast chargers, including the extensive Supercharger infrastructure of Tesla.

These units will be produced at the KIA Autoland Gwangju plant in South Korea. Initially the Wind FWD versions up to the GT-Line Limited AWD will arrive, while the entry-level Light FWD trim will be delayed until late 2026. KIA will publish the official range figure for this market early next year.
