Lotus will present the Evora 414E Hybrid in Geneva

The Lotus Evora will present a hybrid adaptation at the Geneva motor show, and I believe it is the first hybrid that we can truly call authentically sporty, judging by its specifications, with just over 400 horsepower.

The powertrain of the Evora 414E consists of two motors, one electric and one petrol. The petrol engine, a 1.2-litre three-cylinder with 47 HP, and which was designed specifically by Lotus for hybrid cars, is complemented by two electric motors, which deliver 152 kW (204 hp) and 400 Nm of torque, integrated with lithium-polymer batteries, the latest battery technology.

A curious detail of the hybrid Evora is the use of a simulated paddle shifter, as if it had a seven-speed gearbox, through paddles on the steering wheel, on the same steering column, together with a synthesised engine sound (called HALOsonic and selectable between V6 or V12 sound), something that will surely be much debated. The idea is that through the engine sounds, which also simulate downshifts, the driver can have an aural reference for better driving. Although it is quite difficult to drive sportily in a car that emits no engine noise at all, we will see whether this system invented by Lotus is to the liking of customers.

A few more details: the performance of the Evora 414E Hybrid is what you would expect from a conventional supercar. From 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. In total, the extended range of the petrol engine is almost 500 kilometres.

Without a doubt, the Evora hybrid will be one of the attractions of the Geneva show, one of the most crowded in terms of new models and launches in recent years.
