Mansory Gronos Coupé EVO C: the German tuner presents a new and very radical conversion

Mansory once again turns a vehicle into a two-door coupé, this time the Mercedes G-Class, which will be built as an exclusive limited edition

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has undergone a major evolution over the years of its history, arriving today as an off-roader of genuine luxury that not everyone can afford, while also showing certain sporting qualities in the AMG G 63 version. In addition, it has a facet that makes it very customisable, which is why it is one of the favourite off-roaders of specialist tuners.

In this way, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class once again takes centre stage, this time thanks to Mansory, which has subjected it to a major transformation. You may recall that at the beginning of this February the German tuner announced the Venatus Coupé EVO C, an extreme conversion based on the Lamborghini Urus, of which only eight units will be made, transforming it into a two-door coupé with Mansory’s characteristic styling. Well, the G-Class has been subjected to practically the same transformation and, likewise, only eight units will be built for the whole world.

The Mansory Gronos Coupé EVO C, which is the name it will finally carry, immediately catches the eye for doing away with its doors for the rear seats and adopting a coupé configuration. To achieve this, Mansory had to move the B-pillar back, thus providing greater space for the new doors and for access to the rear seats. The other major peculiarity is that the new doors not only increase in size but also change their configuration: they become “suicide doors”, which also means the entire opening system, including the handles, has to be moved to the B-pillar.

From here on, any future buyer will be able to choose from Mansory’s catalogue for the G-Class which new exterior parts they want to fit, in addition to opting for an armoured version on special order. Thus we find parts such as the abrupt bonnet with numerous air outlets, the new-design front bumper which, together with the oversized wheel arches, increases its width, the upper deflector with LED lights, the rear spoiler, or the rear bumper which adds air outlets at the rear of the rear wheel arches. To this must be added the distinctive FD.15 wheels in 24-inch size, available for the G-Class for the first time.

In the interior of the Mansory Gronos Coupé EVO C, one of the changes focuses on the front seats, which have been fitted with a mechanism that allows them to fold forward so as to give full comfort in accessing the rear seats, which now can only accommodate two people, as they now have two individual seats divided by a configurable central console. From here, owners can follow the same customisation process, choosing any material for the upholstery and inserts as well as colour, although Mansory’s hand is evident in details such as its emblems on the seat belts, the floor mats or the seat headrests.

As could not be otherwise, mechanical improvements are also made, using as a base the Mansory Gronos EVO S, which in turn is based on the AMG G 63, so under its bonnet we still find the 4,000 cc twin-turbo V8 which, as standard, delivers 585 CV, a power output that with various modifications is now increased to 900 CV (50 CV more than the Gronos EVO S), together with torque that also rises to 1,000 Nm. These figures allow it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
